Tony Finau’s rumoured move to LIV Golf could be the start of a broader mass exodus on the PGA Tour.
Finau’s withdrawal from the Hero World Challenge has intensified speculation over a LIV Golf move. Thus far, the 35-year-old hasn’t confirmed or denied the rumours, although Finau’s wife did post a cryptic TikTok video.
If Finau’s exit is confirmed, more big PGA Tour players are tipped to follow the Salt Lake City native to the Saudi-backed venture.
With the LIV transfer season in full swing, teams such as the RangeGoats and Legion XIII are all looking for fresh faces. Now, Golf Channel broadcaster and popular pundit Smylie Kaufman has suggested another mystery player could well be nearing the exit door.
Smylie Kaufman moots big PGA Tour exit

Speaking on the latest edition of the Smylie Show, Kaufman revealed that there’s another name who could be set to depart.
“There is another name, too, that keeps on getting floated,” Kaufman said.
“It’s not out yet, but people keep citing another source. I am worried about one player in particular that we will see if that happens or not. It would be a problem for the Tour.”
Who could follow Tony Finau to LIV Golf?
Finau to LIV seems like a foregone conclusion, so who could follow the six-time PGA Tour winner?
Aussie pair Adam Scott and Jason Day would both be good fits for Ripper GC, the team currently led by 2022 Open winner Cameron Smith.
Hideki Matsuyama has long been linked to LIV and could well be on the league’s radar once more. 2023 FedEx Cup champion Viktor Hovland is another who’s admired and was reportedly targeted back in April 2024.
Clearly, there are irons in the fire, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if one of the aforementioned players is Kaufman’s mystery man.
