LIV Golf are certainly making a splash in the sport right now and key figure for LIV, Greg Norman, has revealed he’s been in touch with Hideki Matsuyama.
Matsuyama recently stormed to a stunning win at The Genesis Invitational and is one of the top stars currently playing on the PGA Tour. A Masters winner too, Matsuyama is very much seen as one of the key players in the world of golf right now.
However, rumours have been circulating for some time now over a move to LIV for the Japanese star.
There is said to be a belief among those at LIV that should they land Matsuyama, then it will open doors to sponsorship and partnerships with major Japanese companies.

And speaking in an exclusive interview for The Australian Golf Digest, Greg Norman has admitted that Matsuyama is on his radar.
“I’ll give you another example. We’ve been trying to get Hideki Matsuyama (over to LIV Golf). I don’t mind admitting that. When Hideki won (The Genesis Invitational) in LA, what’s the first thing I did? I said, “Congratulations, Hideki. I’m proud of you, mate,” Norman said.
It seems like a matter of time for LIV and Matsuyama
You could say this about a lot of the top players, to be honest. Since Jon Rahm went and a few more have followed, there feels an inevitability about some players making the leap to LIV.
Indeed, Rory McIlroy is even someone who has been mentioned now as being a player who could eventually end up on LIV, despite his numerous outbursts at the new tour.
For Matsuyama, there is a feeling in the air the he might well be a big name player who makes the move eventually.
Sure, he is one of the top dogs on the PGA Tour and will be in no rush to jump ship. But as we’ve seen with Rahm, money does talk and LIV have plenty of it.
Hopefully, Matsuyama stays put for a while yet. But in time, make no mistake, this is a player who is the ideal target for LIV and the PIF.
