Keegan Bradley is currently focusing on his PGA Tour season, but he also has the 2025 Ryder Cup to worry about.

European form could worry Bradley at this stage of proceedings, with the countdown to the Ryder Cup now under the 150-day mark.

Bethpage Black welcomes the US and European teams in September, with the latter entering the tournament as the defending champions.

Jose Maria Olazabal has just been appointed as a vice-captain of Team Europe, with Luke Donald continuing in his role as captain.

The popular Spaniard joins Edoardo Molinari and Thomas Bjorn as confirmed assistants for Donald in New York.

America told their Ryder Cup advantage has gone ahead of Bethpage Black

Bradley meanwhile has opted to rely on advice from Jim Furyk, Kevin Kisner, Webb Simpson and Brandt Snedeker.

But in the eyes of Gary Williams, Brendon de Jonge & Taylor Zarzour, the captain already has a disadvantage ahead of the competition.

Speaking on 5 Clubs, Zarzour said: “To your point about depth, the team that plays against the Americans in these events always has a disadvantage in depth. I think it has gone. I think the European team has as much if not more depth.”

De Jonge then noted: “The mark on the European team was that eight, nine, 10, 11 and 12 was never nearly as strong as the American team. To your point that is certainly not the case right now. I would say it’s even stronger.”

And Williams added: “It’s one of those things where world ranking stats had been the thing to support the whole depth in balance.

“I have never bought it because we are not putting 12 guys on a golf course and aggregating a 72-hole stroke play result.

“This is a totally different format. And their strength is in their flexibility, the fact they have more interchangeable parts.

“And our best players over the last 20 years, the two best never wanted to play with each other, that was an experiment which failed miserably.

“But it is bona fide depth now with guys who are winning regularly on the best tour in the world. They have seven wins this year and it’s not even May.”

Rory McIlroy the standout as Europeans enjoy PGA Tour success ahead of Ryder Cup

America can still be very confident of their chances at Bethpage Black, with world number one Scottie Scheffler currently leading their qualification standings.

He is closely followed by Xander Schauffele and Collin Morikawa, although notably all three are still without a PGA Tour win this season.

However, their compatriots and Ryder Cup hopefuls Justin Thomas, Russell Henley, Brian Harman and Harris English have all triumphed in 2025.

But so have a long list of talented potential European Ryder Cup players, namely certain representative Rory McIlroy.

He already boasts three wins this season, including titles at The Masters and The Players Championship, considered by many as the fifth major.

Ludvig Aberg, Viktor Hovland and Sepp Straka are also 2025 champions, with all three having helped Europe beat America in Rome in 2023.
