Alex Noren won the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth on Sunday after beating Adrien Saddier in a playoff hole.

The tournament was already considered one of the best on the DP World Tour, but this week had even more importance because of the upcoming Ryder Cup.

11 of the 12 European team members competed at the event as part of their preparation for Bethpage Black in two weeks.

Still, 43-year-old Noren beat Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm, and co to lift the trophy at Wentworth for the second time in his career.

Some may now believe Noren should be on the European Ryder Cup team. He shared his thoughts after the final round at Wentworth.

Alex Noren admits he does not deserve to be on the European Ryder Cup team

Noren won the British Masters at The Belfry hosted by Sir Nick Faldo three weeks ago, so he was already in top form.

Now, after his victory at the BMW PGA Championship, it’s hard to argue that there are 12 better European players.

However, Noren admitted that he does not deserve to play at the Ryder Cup because his form was not good enough throughout the season.

He also explained that he will not take his golf clubs to New York, even in case of an injury or illness to one of the players.

“No. Well, I’ll take my clubs this time, but then I’ll bring them home to Florida,” Noren said.

“I think the other guys have played better than me throughout the year. I’ve put in great results in the last month, a little bit too late.

“I think the guys on the team are going to be fantastic. I’m really looking forward to this match more than in a long time.”

Smylie Kaufman suggests Alex Noren vs Keegan Bradley match at the Ryder Cup

After watching Noren’s victory at the BMW PGA Championship, former PGA Tour winner Smylie Kaufman made an interesting point.

He jokingly suggested that Noren should play a match against United States captain Keegan Bradley at Bethpage Black.

Bradley’s exclusion from the USA team was the biggest talking point ahead of the event, as many believed that he deserved to play.

Now, many will say the same about Noren, and it would certainly be fun to see which of the two comes out on top.

Of course, neither will actually play at the Ryder Cup, and there will be more than enough talent on display to overcome their absences.
