With Team USA now set in stone for the Ryder Cup we can finally put to bed one of the biggest talking points of the last six months now that Keegan Bradley has opted not to select himself.
Bradley was facing a tough choice all year having been given the captain’s job but then also playing a level of golf few have.
Indeed, in any other year, Bradley would be more or less a lock to go to the tournament.
Nevertheless, a decision was taken and Bradley will now manage his troops from afar and not have the added distraction of playing weighing him down.
Now, with Bradley’s choice made and all eyes on September, one of his vice-captains, Webb Simpson, has lauded his skipper and his fellow pros.

Webb Simpson praises PGA Tour players for Keegan Bradley situation
Speaking to Bible Caddie on YouTube, Simpson got into just how much respect he had for the players on TOUR right now and how they’d handled Bradley’s predicament.
“I have never really seen a guy care as much as he cares about the Ryder Cup and I think that was evident in past Ryder Cups,” Simpson revealed.
“Seeing what kind of energy that he brought to Medinah with Phil Mickelson at his first Ryder Cup. He just loves it. He loves the team aspect and I think he realised as much as he has put in over the last year plus, could he really be the captain that he wants to be and play?
“It was such a hard decision for him but it has just been really, really cool to see how much the players have been behind him no matter what he has decided to do. They all look to him and say we believe in you, we want you to play, but we also trust as a captain that you are going to make the best decision.
“We said to Keegan what more could you want as a captain? Your players not only believe in you as a player but they support whatever you decide. There is a crazy cool and high level of trust that the players have in Keegan right now, which is awesome.”
Keegan Bradley will be captain again if he wins
There has been so much praise go the way of Keegan Bradley and after the heartache of missing out on Rome in 2023, it’s nice to see a redemption arc like this.
Clearly, we’re going to see a more determined and fierce Bradley than we’ve possibly ever seen before.
Furthermore, while winning is all that matters for him, this is also a chance for Bradley to cement himself as the captain for at least the Ryder Cup in 2027.

As we’ve seen with Luke Donald and Europe, stability can be crucial and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him go for another go if Europe triumph in New York.
For Bradley, that same carrot will be dangling and he can effectively cement a huge legacy by leading Team USA to a win in New York.
