Webb Simpson has spoken glowingly about all of Keegan Bradley’s six Ryder Cup captain’s picks and singled out one man who he thinks could go unbeaten at Bethpage Black.
Bradley surprisingly chose to leave himself off of the Ryder Cup team, in spite of having some really reliable vice-captains supporting him, Simpson included.
The 39-year-old played sensationally well on the PGA Tour this season, but he clearly thought that it would be impossible to act as a playing captain at Bethpage Black.
Bradley has received huge praise for not picking himself for the Ryder Cup team, and it was probably the correct decision, but only time will tell if that actually is the case.
One thing’s for sure, the Europeans will be in for an extremely tough challenge at Bethpage, with the vociferous New York crowd cheering on the home team.

Not only do Team USA have numerous superstars, but they have a really strong group of hard-working pros who are on the cusp of making big names for themselves.
Webb Simpson says one American player who could ‘surprise the world’ at the Ryder Cup
Ryder Cup vice-captain Simpson raved about Cameron Young at the start of August and suggested that he would recommend him to Bradley for the Ryder Cup team.
Bradley obviously listened to Simpson in that regard.
However, there is another player who Simpson is particularly excited to see perform at Bethpage.
Ben Griffin has been a real surprise package on the PGA Tour this season and he proved that he is more than good enough to compete at the very highest level of the game, with two wins to his name.
During an appearance on the Bible Caddie Podcast, Simpson was asked to share his opinion on the six captain’s picks selected by Bradley on Wednesday, and it was very interesting to hear what he had to say about Griffin.
“Justin Thomas, a veteran in team events. Incredible record. Arguably up there with a guy named Patrick Cantlay as one of the best team records there is,“ Simpson explained.
“He played great at Tour Championship. Easy pick.
“Collin Morikawa obviously a heavy hitter. Hadn’t had his best year but thrives under pressure. He is great in the team room. Guys are really comfortable with him and he’s an alternate shot machine as good as he hits it. Very reliable baller. Very reliable.

“Then we got Ben Griffin who has maybe been the most consistent player outside of Scotty Scheffler all year. Continues to top 10 almost every week and has racked up a ton of points. Almost qualified on his own. Great putter. He’s going to…he’s one of these guys, I think he’s going to surprise the world in a good way. He could, he could go three and 0, four and 0!
“Then there’s Cameron Young, Cameron put together a string of winning Greensboro by a lot. Fifth in Memphis, 11th at BMW, and then I think top five or top six maybe in Atlanta. Cam’s from New York. Cam is a guy he doesn’t get rattled easily so I think he could thrive in this environment.
“Then we got Sam Burns. great putter, great ball striker. Long. I mean, he’s the guy you want in your team room. He gets fired up, but just everybody respects him and loves him.
“And then we got the veteran himself. I think he’s got a 15-6-1 record in team events. The Stone Cold killer, Patrick Cantlay. Pat’s a guy we wanted to see play well in the playoffs. He gave us an awesome week in Atlanta, finishing tied second.
“I mean most of these cups, the Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup, they’re won on Sunday between the eighth and 11th guy. Because singles is 12 guys, the [matches between] eight and 10, those matches are usually where the Ryder Cup is won or lost and so he’s a guy that, as an assistant captain, right there is a good spot for him.
“So man I love our team. Very dynamic team and I can’t wait to see how the pairings kind of unfold over the next month.“
Six Ryder Cup captain’s picks’ 2025 stats compared
Aside from Bradley’s omission, the six captain’s picks were pretty much expected.
Here is how they fared against each other statistically on the PGA Tour in 2025:
| Stats | Morikawa | Thomas | Griffin | Cantlay | Young | Burns |
| Off the tee | 13th | 81st | 56th | 35th | 30th | 72nd |
| Approach | 3rd | 31st | 28th | 9th | 125th | 115th |
| Around the green | 111th | 24th | 48th | 90th | 98th | 76th |
| Putting | 141st | 17th | 22nd | 54th | 6th | 1st |
| Total | 14th | 6th | 7th | 9th | 25th | 13th |
Griffin clearly stands out there as one of the better players out of the six, so it’s no surprise that he earned a Ryder Cup captain’s pick from Bradley.
The 29-year-old is certainly the most consistent put of the six all-round, and he won just as many PGA Tour tournaments in 2025 as the other six players put together!
