Adam Scott has revealed something he does before the Open Championship every single year, which isn’t commonplace among most PGA Tour, LIV Golf, and DP World Tour players.

The Aussie finished inside the top ten at Royal Troon in what was one of several impressive performances toward the back end of the season.

Scott, who currently holds the longest appearance streak in majors, has spoken of his love for The Open and has now shared his routine in the build-up to the year’s final major.

Speaking to Golf.com, Scott explained why he believes The Open is completely “unique” compared to the other major championships.

“The Open Championship, the stadium that they kind of create on the 18th every year, is unique,” Scott said. “Even the noise the crowd makes. It is such a great atmosphere.”

The 44-year-old then revealed that he often travels early to play the course alone, something most professionals avoid.

“A lot of the time, over my career, I go the week before and spend the whole week there playing the Open Championship course the week before,” Scott added. “Those weeks are some of my favourite weeks because I am playing the Open Championship course, which is closed, and I am the only one playing the course. That is really one of the perks of playing as a pro golfer, and I am not sure why more guys don’t do it.”

Adam Scott in for a busy few weeks as PIF talks continue

Scott is in for a hectic couple of weeks after a fresh round of negotiations between the PGA Tour and the PIF were scheduled in New York City.

The Aussie is part of the PGA Tour committee that is discussing a potential $1 billion investment with LIV Golf’s financial arm.

In addition to the bombshell talks, Scott has the small matter of the Presidents Cup on the horizon. The Aussie has been a stalwart of the International team for several years and will be desperate to help Mike Weir’s side secure its first win in 26 years.

The Presidents Cup gets underway at Royal Montreal on September 26.
