The third round of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship is underway, and the low-scoring has continued at Yas Links.

Tommy Fleetwood broke the course record on Thursday, only for his compatriot Paul Waring to go one better during the second day’s play.

DP World Tour youngster Tom McKibbin is among the third-round pacesetters as he looks to earn himself a PGA Tour card for the 2025 season.

Elsewhere, Shane Lowry has made a move; the Irishman is six under for the day and just four back of the lead. Rory McIlroy is three under, six shots back of Waring.

Scoring has been extremely low throughout the week, with just three players over par. And two of the names outside the negative numbers are well-known to DP World Tour fans.

Daniel Brown, who starred at the 2024 Open Championship, is currently stone-dead last and five over for the tournament.

The Englishman carded a four-over 76 on Saturday, which included a disastrous stretch on the back nine.

After shooting one over on the front, Brown proceeded to drop four shots in a row at the 10th, 11th, 12th and 13th. Thankfully, the 30-year-old picked up a shot on the 18th.

Brown captured the imagination of the fans at Royal Troon and eventually finished in a tie for 10th in what was his first Open Championship outing. Despite his recent woes, Brown is still set to qualify for next week’s DP World Tour Championship in Dubai.

Justin Rose off-the-boil at Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship

Justin Rose, who famously finished second at Royal Troon, has also faced issues at Yas Links this week.

Rose is one over after carding a 74 on Saturday. It was a fairly uneventful day for the Englishman, who made one double bogey, a bogey and just one birdie.

Nevertheless, Rose is still on course to reach next week’s season finale at Jumeirah Golf Estates, and there’s no doubt the one-time major winner will be seeking a much-improved performance.
