Tiger Woods remains sidelined with injury, with the legend set to miss out on another crack at the PGA Championship.

Sitting 1341st in the Official World Golf Ranking, Woods is in his lowest-ever ranking throughout his entire career.

That will, however, be of very little significance to Woods, who will simply be focusing on getting back to full health.

After undergoing surgery on a ruptured achilles tendon, the 82-time PGA Tour champion missed on The Masters at Augusta National.

Scottie Scheffler prefers Southern Hills over Augusta, with the former having hosted the PGA Championship in 2022.

How Tiger Woods approaches the 14th hole at Quail Hollow

The tournament is next up in the major championship schedule, with Quail Hollow playing host this time around, a venue that also regularly hosts the Wells Fargo Championship.

And fortunately for those involved, Woods has previously shared insight into one hole at the iconic course.

Speaking to Aon in 2021, he said of the 14th at Quail Hollow: “Quail Hollow, the 14th is a drivable par four. It’s really not that difficult of a hole.

“There is water left and bunkers right. A big hill off the right, you can lay it up off there with a three iron and have a little wedge in there but it’s a really long green and it’s deceptive because of the water line.

“I am not the only one who has thought that way. A lot of players have talked about it over the years. Because it’s such a long green, it’s hard to believe it’s that far to the back pin or even the middle pin.

“The top three decisions are whether or not you can get there. If you don’t commit to a lay up, if you do commit to going for it, where am I going to miss it?

“And what hole location is it. Front or middle right, middle left or is it deep centre corner? That is part of the decision making for me off the tee.”

Why Justin Thomas will be full of confidence heading into the 2025 PGA Championship

With 15 major championship wins to his name, second only to Jack Nicklaus’s 18, Woods’s advice is certain to go a long way.

Four of those wins have come at the PGA Championship, with two coming at Medinah and one each at Valhalla and Southern Hills.

Justin Thomas meanwhile won the 2017 PGA Championship at Quail Hollow, before winning the same event at Southern Hills in 2022.

He should, therefore, be full of confidence heading to Charlotte, North Carolina later this month, having also recently triumphed at the RBC Heritage for his first win of the season.
