Tiger Woods has won everything there is to win in golf, and it would be foolish to rule out further success even with his injury issues.

Woods is currently sidelined after undergoing surgery on a ruptured achilles tendon, forcing him to miss out on The Masters earlier this month.

His return date remains up in the air, but fans are undoubtedly desperate to see him back in action as soon as possible.

Woods boasts 82 PGA Tour wins and 15 major championship wins, but is yet to make an appearance this season.

He was limited to the inaugural TGL season before his injury, having made just five starts on the PGA Tour in the 2024 season.

But his impact on the game has not been diminished, with Trevor Immelman for example loving recently watching back Woods’s stunning 2002 PGA Championship shot.

The latter found the green at Hazeltine with a three-iron from a fairway bunker, with Woods having once detailed his famous three-iron stinger for Golf Digest.

Demonstrating the iconic shot, he said: “Here we are with my three iron stinger. It’s one of my go-to shots.

“I’m sure most of you have seen this shot. It’s a shot I’ll play quite often just to get the ball in play, whether it’s a three iron, four iron, or five wood, three wood, even sometimes a driver, it’s the same kind of shot.

“Because I’m hitting down on it, I like hitting a low draw with this one, so the more back I play it, obviously the more draw I’m going to have on it.

“So I go back just a little bit of my stance, really try and feel as if I make a normal back swing. I still get behind the ball, still load the right leg, but I really try and feel like this right shoulder gets on top of that golf ball.

“It feels high, it feels like it’s covered. And one of the things that depends on how far I want to get down, or how low I want to hit it is how much I’ll take out on the follow through. And sometimes that’s one of the things that… I may hit it quite short, but it’s at the trajectory that I want.

“So I’ll hit down on it, but I’ll stop it quickly here. It’s not going to go as far, but it’s going to have a low height. It’ll be lower than tree height out there.

“So it stays out of the wind, never gets above the tree height. Go a little bit further, maybe a little bit higher, it would be right on tree height. So I really try to feel like I cover it, I get on top of it, now I’ll shut it off after that.”

Replicating any of Wood’s iconic shots is extremely difficult, with the stinger certainly among the most difficult.

But his collection of unforgettable efforts is certainly not limited to solely the stinger, with plenty of chips and putts among his iconic and unique collection.

Fans have, however, perhaps enjoyed the stinger more than most, with Woods definitely making the shot famous.

He has pulled it out in various competitions when needed the most, and it more often than not works out very well indeed.
