Scottie Scheffler experienced a torrid time during the Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black last month.
After a stellar season on the PGA Tour in 2025, many expected Scheffler to dominate at the Ryder Cup.
Scheffler was extremely disappointed by his Ryder Cup showing, after he lost his first four matches before finally getting a win in the singles against Rory McIlroy.
He quite simply looked like a shadow of his true self at Bethpage Black.
The world number one displayed a vulnerable side that we quite simply haven’t seen on the PGA Tour.
His imperious form before the Ryder Cup left his fellow players swooning over his ability.

Scheffler has been described as ‘unbelievable’ by PGA Tour player Luke Clanton, and it’s little wonder why he is looked up to by so many.
In 20 PGA Tour events this season, the 29-year-old racked up six wins, including two major championship titles.
Perhaps just as impressive as those wins was the fact that he finished inside the top-25 in every single tournament he played.
That consistency is frightening. But what now for Scheffler after his struggles at the Ryder Cup? Will his confidence have taken a hit?
What Scottie Scheffler did immediately after the Ryder Cup in 2023
Scheffler’s rivals could be forgiven for thinking next season could be the time to close the gap on him after his underwhelming performance at Bethpage Black.
History tells us that they may well be disappointed, though.
Scheffler was left in tears after one of his matches at the Ryder Cup in 2023 when he partnered up with Brooks Koepka, such was the manner of his defeat to Viktor Hovland and Ludvig Aberg.
The man from Dallas, Texas, and his partner, Koepka, were beaten by a record score of 9&7 in Rome.
After the Europeans won the Ryder Cup handsomely, Scheffler received real criticism from the media for his poor performances throughout the week, where he halved two and lost two of his four matches.

When the four-time major winner struggled again at the Ryder Cup this year, his form was accompanied by a real sense of déjà vu.
However, what happened after his nightmare in Rome two years ago should give his fellow competitors serious cause for concern.
Scottie Scheffler’s dominant run on the PGA Tour after the 2023 Ryder Cup
The first tournament Scheffler played in after the Ryder Cup in Rome was the Hero World Challenge, and he won it by three strokes from Sepp Straka.
His next 10 PGA Tour tournaments saw him win four times, including his Masters triumph, and, amazingly, he only finished outside the top 10 once – a tie for 17th at The American Express.
Aside from the Masters, his other three victories consisted of a Players Championship triumph and two Signature Event wins.
His struggles at the Ryder Cup in 2023 obviously motivated him to work even harder on his game.
Scheffler will undoubtedly do the same now, following his poor display on Long Island two weeks ago.
We’ve seen what happened the last time he left the Ryder Cup a seriously disappointed man.
So, would anyone be shocked if he dominated on the PGA Tour once again when he returns to action? They certainly shouldn’t be.
