Justin Thomas won the last Signature Event at the RBC Heritage, while best friend Jordan Spieth came fourth behind Scottie Scheffler at last week’s CJ Cup Byron Nelson.

Other top players at the Truist Championship include Collin Morikawa, with new caddie Joe Greiner, Xander Schauffele and Ludvig Aberg.

Truist Championship picks

The Golfing Gazette writers have predicted which player will win the Truist Championship this week:

Jordan Harris: With little course history to speak of, Justin Thomas gets the pick this week – simply for the fact that it would somehow add even more excitement to the PGA Championship if Scottie Scheffler, Bryson DeChambeau and Thomas all went into the second major of the year off the back of a win looking to stop Rory McIlroy.

James Shearman: Philly Cricket is not particularly long, so it could come down to iron play at the Truist Championship. Sepp Straka ranks second on the PGA Tour for Strokes Gained Approach, and has already won this season at The American Express.

Peter Lynch: Rory McIlroy has stolen the headlines on the PGA Tour in 2025 so far, much to both the delight and disappointment of Shane Lowry. He has often been overshadowed by his close friend, but I think this is now Lowry’s time to shine.
