Tommy Fleetwood is still waiting for his first PGA Tour win after his heartbreaking defeat at the Travelers Championship on Sunday.

Keegan Bradley emerged victorious at the Travelers Championship in the end, with Fleetwood left licking his wounds after yet another near miss.

Before the final round began, being paired with fan favourite Bradley was undoubtedly a big blow for Fleetwood.

The tee times were changed due to the threat of inclement weather, and the U.S. Ryder Cup captain playing alongside Fleetwood definitely would have made things harder for the Englishman.

That said, Fleetwood said that the Travelers Championship crowd were great with him all week long, when speaking after his gutting loss on the final hole on Sunday.

How does he bounce back from such a soul-destroying defeat?

Fleetwood will undoubtedly work ever harder now to put himself in the same position again, as soon as possible.

He deserves huge credit for one particular thing he did immediately after losing out to Bradley on Sunday.

Tommy Fleetwood shows up Rory McIlroy and Collin Morikawa after the Travelers

Fleetwood is one of the most well-liked players on tour, and for good reason.

He had the courage to face the media after his gutting defeat at TPC River Highlands, when it would have been so much easier for him to shirk speaking to the press.

Dame Laura Davies suggested that Fleetwood’s actions after his round made her an even bigger fan of his.

Rory McIlroy and Collin Morikawa would both do well to learn from Fleetwood’s graciousness in defeat.

Both McIlroy and Morikawa have snubbed their media duties on separate occasions throughout the 2025 season so far.

The Northern Irishman opted for a so-called media blackout when his name was released to the press following his driver being deemed as non-conforming after testing procedures took place ahead of the PGA Championship.

Meanwhile, Morikawa chose not to speak to the press simply because of a tough loss to Russell Henley in the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Both of them have been accused of acting out of line by golf fans and media personalities alike.

Fleetwood gave the entire golfing world a real lesson in humility with his actions after missing out on the Travelers Championship trophy.

And every single one of us could most probably learn something important from the 34-year-old Englishman.

Three main reasons why Fleetwood failed to win the Travelers

Fleetwood has to get to the bottom of exactly why he has failed to win on the PGA Tour in 159 attempts.

Three parts of his game let him down badly on Sunday at TPC River Highlands.

StatRankTotal
Strokes gained off the tee40-0.039
Strokes gained approach42-0.682
Strokes gained putting61-2.216

As you can see from the above figures, Fleetwood lost roughly three shots on the field during his final round in those three key categories.

Considering how good a driver of the ball he is, and how pinpoint his iron play consistently is, his performance off the tee and with his approach to greens really was a big shock.

Fleetwood was significantly let down by two of his big strengths on Sunday at the Travelers, whilst his putting once again wasn’t good enough during a final round when he was in contention.

However, the Englishman can be safe in the knowledge that he would have left Connecticut as an even more popular figure amongst golf fans than he was before.
