Tommy Fleetwood dealt potential blow ahead of Travelers Championship final round after PGA Tour announcement

Tommy Fleetwood is looking for his first PGA Tour win on his 159th start this week at the Travelers Championship.

Fleetwood has racked up 41 top-10s throughout those events – that’s more than any other player who hasn’t recorded a win on the PGA Tour.

The 34-year-old Englishman is far too good not to have won on the PGA Tour.

Fleetwood has put his struggles to win down to too many slow starts and the sheer quality of talent on tour.

There won’t be too many more popular winners than Fleetwood at the Travelers Championship on Sunday.

However, there is one man other than the Englishman playing at TPC River Highlands on day four who will have the entire crowd behind him.

Fleetwood will now have to deal with a really big problem on Sunday at TPC River Highlands.

Because of potential inclement weather, the tee times for round four have been moved up, with split starts off the 1st and 10th tees.

And the PGA Tour have switched from two-balls to three-balls for the final round.

That means that Keegan Bradley has jumped up into the final group alongside Fleetwood and Russell Henley.

So the 34-year-old will now have to cope with the raucous support that Bradley – a New England native – will carry with him around the course.

Fleetwood will definitely be feeling the pressure more now than he was before after the tee times were changed.

The PGA Tour statement read:

“Due to morning storms, the final round of the Travelers Championship will be split tee start in groups of three. Starting times 10:55 a.m. – 12:56 p.m.”

Can Fleetwood finally break his PGA Tour duck?

Fleetwood needs to play with real intent on Sunday, especially on the greens.

The Englishman has to putt with confidence and aggression, and try not to miss any putts on the low side.

Fleetwood’s putting has definitely held him back when in contention to win on the PGA Tour throughout the years.

And it will be interesting to see whether he’s able to turn that narrative around at TPC River Highlands on Sunday.

More importantly though, will he be able to deal with the atmosphere generated by Bradley’s huge following? Only time will tell.
