After a crazy three-week stretch, the PGA Tour heads to Detroit Golf Club for the Rocket Mortgage Classic.

Unsurprisingly, after two signature events and the US Open, most of the world’s best players are taking time away and recovering ahead of the final major of the year.

Speaking after landing his sixth win in ten events, Scottie Scheffler has confirmed he’s now out of action until The Open gets underway at Royal Troon.

“Yeah, I’m playing The Open, the Olympics and then the last three playoff events, then I think I should be on the Presidents Cup team, and then I’ll take a break,” he said.

With the world number one, along with a host of players enjoying a much-needed holiday, here are three players who could capitalise in Detroit this week.

Tom Kim

Tom Kim is one of three players inside the world’s top 30 set to compete in the Rocket Mortgage Classic this week.

The Korean fell just short at the Travelers on Sunday and will be looking to bounce back in Michigan.

For the most part at TPC River Highlands, Kim was faultless and if he continues where he left off, there’s every chance of the 22-year-old landing his fourth victory.

Cameron Young

Cameron Young made history after carding a 59 during the third round of the Travelers on Saturday.

Unfortunately, the American was left to rue a two-over-par 72 on day one, which ultimately ended any chances of threatening the leaders.

After finishing in the top ten five times already this season and producing some scintillating golf in the process, it feels like a case of when and not if the world number 23 lands his first career win.

Akshay Bhatia

Akshay Bhatia was also in contention for most of the Travelers after carding rounds of 64, 65 and 64 during the first three days.

But, despite shooting under par in the final round, the left-hander couldn’t keep pace with Scheffler and Kim.

Nevertheless, after coming T16 at the US Open and also performing well at the challenging Memorial Tournament, the 22-year-old is certainly in good form ahead of this week’s event.

His third PGA Tour win could well be on the cards.
