The first day of LIV Golf Greenbrier will mark the competition’s 100th competitive round and a significant milestone for Greg Norman’s venture.
The breakaway tour is entering the latter stages of the season before LIV’s players take a prolonged break ahead of 2025. LIV’s presence won’t disappear during the off-season, however; Jon Rahm is supposedly already recruiting LIV’s latest recruits from the PGA Tour.
Greenbrier proceeds the individual championship in Chicago before the team event takes centre stage in Dallas.
Overall, it’s been a positive year for LIV, and here, The Golfing Gazette examines three of the league’s most dramatic moments since its inception in 2022.

Jon Rahm’s blockbuster PGA Tour exit
Rahm was initially one of the staunch PGA Tour loyalists. However, the Spaniard’s tune significantly changed at the back end of 2023 after he agreed on a blockbuster move to LIV.
The Spaniard’s whopping multi-year contract could eventually see him pocket $600 million. The 29-year-old’s departure rocked the PGA Tour and is arguably LIV’s biggest power play to date.
Rahm, who is now one of the highest-paid golfers of all time, appears to be enjoying life on the breakaway tour and picked up his first win at JCB the week prior to the Olympics.
Sergio Garcia’s Andalucia victory
Sergio Garcia landing his maiden LIV Golf title at Andalucia felt rather fitting. The former Masters champion has previously won three times at Valderrama, and the storyline played out perfectly in his native Spain.
At the start of the final round, Garcia was seven shots back of Anirban Lahiri but managed to shoot five under and force a playoff. The Spaniard would go on to claim victory in dramatic fashion, much to the delight of the home crowds.
Garcia winning at his favourite course in front of an emphatic Spanish crowd will go down in LIV’s history books.
Bryson DeChambeau makes golfing history at Greenbrier
Twelve months ago, Bryson DeChambeau carded a historic 58 at LIV Golf Greenbrier to become only the fourth man in history to achieve such a feat.
The American’s round of 12 under sparked jubilant scenes in West Virginia and a record which will likely stand the test of time.
For LIV, the golfing history made at Greenbrier provided an excellent opportunity to grow the league further. It’s no surprise to hear DeChambeau’s feat mentioned at every available opportunity.
