Rory McIlroy has now followed in the footsteps of Tiger Woods with his glory at The Masters, with which he has clinched the career grand slam.
Woods welcomed McIlroy to the grand slam club after he won at Augusta National for his fifth major championship win.
Golfing legend Woods boasts five wins at The Masters alone, but McIlroy has now joined him in another regard by winning all four major championships.
McIlroy mirrored the behaviour of Woods during his final round at Augusta, where he was paired with Bryson DeChambeau.
The Northern Irishman held a two-shot lead over the American with one round left, but was forced to win via a playoff against Justin Rose.

Tiger Woods correctly predicted Rory McIlroy to complete the career grand slam just last year
And it is a success that Woods envisioned just last year, having been asked in his opening press conference at The Masters in 2024 if he thought McIlroy would one day complete the career grand slam.
“No question, he’ll do it at some point,” said Woods. “He’s just… Rory’s too talented, too good. He’s going to be playing this event for a very long time.
“He’ll get it done. It’s just a matter of when. But, yes, I think that Rory will be a great Masters champion one day, and it could be this week. You never know.
“I just think that just, again, the talent that he has, the way he plays the game and the golf course fits his eye, it’s just a matter of time.”

What Tiger Woods thought of his own chances of winning The Masters in 2024
Of course, he didn’t achieve the stunning feat at Augusta this time last year, when Scottie Scheffler won The Masters for a second time.
McIlroy finished T22 last time out, with his four-over well behind the 11-under of Scheffler, who beat Ludvig Aberg by four shots.
Woods meanwhile finished 60th on 16-over, in what turned out to be his only cut made on the PGA Tour in 2024.
He was, however, full of confidence before getting his tournament underway, having been asked what he thought he was capable of doing that week.
“If everything comes together, I think I can get one more,” replied Woods. “Do I need to describe that any more than that, or are we good?”
The 15-time major champion missed out on another appearance this year with injury, but he can, of course, be more than satisfied with his astonishing record at Augusta.
