An exciting tournament is taking place this weekend that golf fans around the world might not know about.

Despite the Scottish Open and the ISCO Championship on the PGA Tour, and the Evian Championship on the LPGA, another event involves even bigger names.

That’s because the American Century Championship sees celebrities from different industries compete at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course.

The Golfing Gazette lists 10 of the most famous players in the field, including former champion and NBA superstar Steph Curry.

Steph Curry headlines American Century Championship field

Curry is by far the most famous player at the American Century Championship. The Golden State Warriors man has over 50 million Instagram followers.

He will be joined by retired NBA legends Charles Barkley, Ray Allen, and many more past and present basketball players.

The Buffalo Bills’ Josh Allen is another keen golfer in the ACC field. Meanwhile, fellow quarterback Aaron Rodgers could be in contention this week.

Brothers Travis and Jason Kelce are hugely popular among both NFL fans and Taylor Swift supporters these days. They will both tee it up in Lake Tahoe.

WWE superstar The Miz and UFC fighter Justin Gaethje are two household names from outside football and basketball.

Who won the 2024 American Century Championship?

Former ATP Tour tennis player Mardy Fish won the 2024 American Century Championship with 83 points. It was his second victory at the event.

Steph Curry didn’t compete last year because he was preparing for the Paris Olympics, where the United States men’s basketball team won gold.

However, the point guard won the tournament in 2023, including an incredible hole-in-one, so he will probably also feel like the reigning champion.

There is no handicap adjustment in the scoring, so Curry, Fish, or another excellent golfer is likely to claim first prize on Sunday.
