TGL has made a very welcome return to the SoFi Center, with the likes of Rory McIlroy and Keegan Bradley involved in the latest run of matches.

McIlroy wants the TGL shot clock on the PGA Tour, at a time when the latter has come under fire for slow play

Slow play is certainly not an issue in the former, although intriguingly Wyndham Clark was the slowest player on TGL opening night.

Clark returned to TGL action on Monday, where The Bay Golf Club played back-to-back matches and won both.

They beat Atlanta Drive GC 6-5 in their opener, before another hard-fought 5-4 win over McIlroy’s Boston Common side.

Rose Zhang becomes The Bay Golf Club ambassador and investor

The Bay sit very top of the TGL table with three wins from three, having stormed past New York Golf Club 9-2 on opening night.

Clark is joined on the side by Shane Lowry, Ludvig Aberg and Min Woo Lee, but their background team has now just gotten a little bit bigger.

That comes in the form of LPGA Tour star Rose Zhang, who has officially joined The Bay as an investor and ambassador.

“Welcome LPGA star and Stanford champion Rose Zhang to The Bay Golf Club ownership group!” the TGL side wrote on Instagram.

“Rose embodies the innovative spirit of the Bay Area and our vision for the future of golf. From her historic NCAA championships at Stanford University to her groundbreaking LPGA Tour victories, Rose represents the next generation of golf leadership. Here’s to the future of golf!”

TGL may have taken major step towards including LPGA Tour players

Zhang is a two-time LPGA Tour champion, with the American currently occupying 14th place in the world rankings.

The California local is seemingly the perfect fit for the club that draws inspiration from the Bay Area in San Francisco.

She joins the likes of NBA icons Stephen Curry, Andre Iguodala and Klay Thompson as The Bay investors, along with footballer John Stones and F1 driver Alex Albon.

But the 21-year-old’s move may just signal something different, with TGL potentially showing signs of one day including LPGA Tour players.

The competition solely involves PGA Tour players at this moment in time, but appearances from the likes of Nelly Korda and Lydia Ko may not be too far away.

There may also even be whispers of including LIV Golfers in the innovative tournament, but LPGA Tour stars would very likely be ahead of them in the list.

As an investor, Zhang will now have plenty of influence on her side going forward, and she may just be the key to TGL adopting the leading women’s players.
