LIV Golf are very much the great disruptors in the world of golf at the moment and they are showing no signs of slowing down.
After pinching some of the very best talent from the PGA Tour, Tony Finau is now set to join LIV and become the latest PGA Tour member to defect to the Saudi-backed effort.
Finau is a six-time winner on the PGA Tour winner and with hopes of getting into the Ryder Cup as well, his move to LIV will come with some risks.
However, Finau will have seen how the likes of Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau have done since their moves over and will hope for similar success and riches.
LIV could even bring more big names in, such is their pulling power.

Of course, not every LIV signing has worked out. But while there’s been failures, some have been absolute successes, either due to the golf they’ve played or just simply, their standing in the sport.
With that, The Golfing Gazette has ranked the best signings of the LIV Golf era so far, including where Tony Finau would sit if he signed.
Ranking LIV Golf’s best ever signings as Tony Finau news emerges
1. Jon Rahm

Undoubtedly LIV’s number one signing and the one that shocked the world the most, signing Jon Rahm was huge news at the time.
Rahm is not only a name in the sport but a top, top player and since moving to LIV, he’s won numerous events and cleaned up the individual title in his first year.
2. Bryson DeChambeau

Few could have predicted the trajectory of DeChambeau’s career when he moved to LIV. Yes, he was a big name at the time but not quite at the level he is now.
Now, he is one of the world’s most influential golfers thanks to his talent and YouTube channel and ahead of 2025, is being tipped for massive success after his US Open win over Rory McIlroy in 2025.
3. Brooks Koepka

There aren’t many players in the world who need a second hand to count any future major wins but Brooks Koepka is one of them.
The American has won five majors and has been a success on LIV as well. Outspoken at the time, Koepka made no secret of his desire to simply secure his family when he took the big bucks to join.
4. Phil Mickelson

While Mickelson is not the force he once was in golf, there is no doubting his status in the game as a six-time major winner and often vocal critic of the PGA Tour.
Mickelson has not had huge success on LIV but is very much a company man now and sees plenty of success for the future of the tour, where he’ll hope to carry on in some sort of capacity once he stops playing.
5. Dustin Johnson

‘DJ’ was one of the best golfers in the world and like Koepka, has not hidden the fact he made a business decision for him and his family.
Johnson has won on LIV but he hasn’t been the roaring success many imagined. Still, he is a big name in the sport and a multiple time major champion that still draws eyes to the game.
6. Cam Smith

Another major winner to make the shift to LIV Golf, Cam Smith has been a major part of the success the tour enjoyed in 2024.
Smith and his Rippers GC win at Adelaide was one of the most memorable events of the season and his value to the LIV tour is there for all to see.
7. Sergio Garcia

You could argue that European legend Sergio Garcia belongs higher up this list. Yet another major winner, a Ryder Cup legend, and a player with 11 PGA Tour wins to his name alongside 16 on the European Tour, Garcia’s quality is obvious.
For LIV, Garcia has been a big signing and his example of paying his DP World Tour fines to get back involved for 2025 could well set a precedent going forward.
8. Tony Finau

While Finau is not the very biggest or the best name on the PGA Tour, he still represents a player of significant quality for the LIV tour.
Finau’s ability to win on the PGA Tour is there for all to see and he’ll be hoping he can translate that form into the LIV side of things.
