Keegan Bradley will captain the US Ryder Cup team at Bethpage Black in September.
However, Bradley‘s impressive form on the PGA Tour this season means that he is in contention to play on the US Ryder Cup team as well.
The 39-year-old from Vermont has one win to his name this season, and he is currently sitting in 10th position in the Ryder Cup standings.
As a result of his fine form, Bradley is being urged to pick himself for the Ryder Cup, when he makes his captain’s selections at the end of this month.
While it has been suggested that Bradley may well only play the afternoon Ryder Cup matches on Friday and Saturday, if he does indeed act as a playing captain at Bethpage Black.
However, after the past six weeks or so, the eight-time PGA Tour winner may have answered whether he is actually capable of playing at Bethpage, as well as captaining the team.
Keegan Bradley inadvertently solves Ryder Cup riddle
Bradley won the Travelers Championship in June.

Since then, the 39-year-old Ryder Cup captain has played three events – The Rocket Classic, The Open Championship and The Wyndham Championship this week.
And unfortunately for Bradley, his form has been less than impressive to say the least.
He finished in a tie for 41st in Detroit before recording a T-30th finish at The Open.
Then at Sedgefield Country Club this week, Bradley missed the cut by three shots after carding rounds of 68 and 72 on what was a very gettable golf course.
Whilst his form hasn’t been horrendous, there has been a clear and obvious drop-off from the levels he was at earlier on in the season.
Is that a coincidence? Purely just a loss of form at an inopportune time? I would suggest that as the pressure ramps up, and with Bradley’s Ryder Cup commitments continuing to increase, he is struggling to juggle those duties with the playing side.
If that is indeed the case, his recent form will help him answer the question as to whether or not he should play at Bethpage in September.
If he is struggling with performing both roles to the best of his ability now, he will have no hope of doing so when the Ryder Cup begins in seven weeks’ time.
It’s becoming ever clearer that Bradley needs to either play or act as captain. In this day and age, it will be incredibly difficult to combine the two roles.
Where Keegan Bradley sits in the current US Ryder Cup standings
Bradley is currently outside of the automatic qualifying spots in the US Ryder Cup standings.
The top six on the Ryder Cup points list are all locks for the team.

| 3 | J.J. Spaun | 12478.91 |
| 4 | Russell Henley | 11623.82 |
| 5 | Bryson DeChambeau | 10774.98 |
| 6 | Harris English | 10385.65 |
Here are the rankings from 7th through to 15th position:
| Rank | Player | Points |
| 7 | Justin Thomas | 10208.09 |
| 8 | Collin Morikawa | 9743.61 |
| 9 | Ben Griffin | 8604.91 |
| 10 | Keegan Bradley | 8038.50 |
| 11 | Maverick McNealy | 7414.15 |
| 12 | Brian Harman | 7007.99 |
| 13 | Andrew Novak | 6560.15 |
| 14 | Patrick Cantlay | 6069.39 |
| 15 | Sam Burns | 5620.39 |
There is still plenty to play for over the final three weeks of the season.
Bradley is still in a strong position to qualify for the Ryder Cup, whether that be automatically or via a captain’s pick from himself!
However, the form he has displayed over the past month or so will unquestionably have given him cause for concern.
