Keegan Bradley has played some brilliant golf this season and as a result, he has thrust himself into contention to play at the Ryder Cup.
Bradley was named as the Ryder Cup captain for 2025 last year, but nobody would have expected him to go on and enjoy the success he has this season.
Because of his fine form, Bradley is being urged to play on the Ryder Cup team by his peers, golf fans and journalists alike.
While Davis Love III suggested that Bradley can captain the Ryder Cup team as well as play in September at Bethpage Black.
Whatever happens, it cannot be denied that Bradley’s form this season has caused himself somewhat of an unwanted headache.
In this day and age, there is so much responsibility on the Ryder Cup captains due to the behemoth that the competition has become.
And now Eamon Lynch has come up with a plan whereby Bradley can play and retain his captaincy duties.
The matches Keegan Bradley could play at the Ryder Cup if he picks himself
Bradley has one huge decision lying ahead of him.
If he doesn’t qualify automatically for the Ryder Cup team, will he pick himself?

It must be a really difficult position to be in actually.
When speaking on The Golf Channel, Lynch highlighted how he believes Bradley acting as a playing captain could actually work.
He said: “I do think he is going to play and I think he is going to make a valid case if he’s on that team. They have an apparatus around him, with John Wood as the team manager. I would expect if he is going to be on the team that he would only play in the afternoon sessions. You can make all the decisions through the course of the day, you do not want to be out there in the morning as captain when there are decisions to be made for the afternoon.“
However, Lynch’s co-host Damon Hack disagreed with him.
He said: “I don’t think he should make any decisions. No decisions! If you play you play. Don’t captain and then say I am going to half play.“
It’s a fair point from Hack and the truth of the matter is that there is obviously a reason why the Europeans are so desperate for Bradley to act as a playing captain at Bethpage Black.
Keegan Bradley’s 2025 stats on the PGA Tour
There haven’t been many American players who have played more consistently well than Bradley this season.
Here are his stats from 2025 so far, in all of the key categories:
| Stats | Bradley’s rank |
| Strokes gained off the tee | 28th |
| Strokes gained approach | 33rd |
| Strokes gained tee to green | 4th |
| Strokes gained around the greens | 8th |
| Strokes gained scrambling | 70th |
| Strokes gained putting | 106th |
| Strokes gained total | 8th |
As you can see from those stats, Bradley has been in exceptionally well-rounded form this season.
The 39-year-old from Vermont has raised his game to a level whereby he now has a chance to play at Bethpage.
In fact, if Bradley doesn’t play at the Ryder Cup, it will feel like a huge waste for the United States team.
