Scottie Scheffler has continued his stunning career by winning The Open Championship, which has inevitably led to further Tiger Woods comparisons.

Xander Schauffele thinks Scheffler has taken over from Woods, but the man himself has played down the continuous discussion.

Scheffler thinks Woods ‘stands alone’ in golf for what he’s achieved, with 15 major championship wins among his honours list.

The Open champion Scheffler now has four, while his 17 wins on the PGA Tour also pale in comparison to the 82 of Woods.

Legendary figure Woods is joined by Sam Snead at the very top of the all-time list for PGA Tour titles, while he trails only Jack Nicklaus for major wins.

How does Tiger Woods’ greatest ever season compare to Scottie Scheffler’s 2025?

Woods found it hard to compare himself with Nicklaus, who leads the way for major championship wins with 18.

A new comparison is very much dominating world golf right now, and comparing Scheffler’s current season with Woods’ in 2000 may just be the best way to try and settle the debate.

Of course various factors must be considered, such as the standard of the other players on the PGA Tour at the time.

But in simple terms of major wins, Woods remarkably won the US Open, The Open and the PGA Championship at the turn of the century.

Scheffler meanwhile has finished his 2025 major championship season with two titles, winning the PGA Championship and The Open.

And while the current star man cannot match the legend for overall PGA Tour wins, he could push him close in the coming months.

Woods won a stunning nine times from his 20 appearances, with Scheffler currently on four from 16 respectively.

Fittingly, however, they both have a 100% record of top 25 finishes from their starts, with 17/20 top 10s for Woods and 13/16 top 10s for Scheffler so far.

The stunning Tiger Woods stat Scottie Scheffler will do very well to emulate

Scheffler really has blown away the rest of the field for some time now, with his stunning success certainly not limited to 2025.

He’s arguably been the best player in world golf for the last two years, and worryingly for his rivals it doesn’t look like he will slow down any time soon.

Intriguingly, the world number one can achieve the career grand slam at the 2026 US Open on his 30th birthday, an achievement recorded by Woods when he was just 24.

Several people believe he is next in line after the 15-time major champion, but Scheffler still falls well short of the iconic figure in another of his many, many phenomenal feats.

As per Justin Ray, Scheffler just clinched his 10th successive win when holding the outright 54-hole lead on tour.

It fittingly represents the longest streak since Woods, but he managed that feat a stunning 37 consecutive times.

Scheffler is rapidly breaking records and reminding people of Woods in the process, but perhaps simply appreciating the fact that there is another great on the course is the way to approach his remarkable efforts.

It would, however, certainly be intriguing to hear Woods’ thoughts on the matter, with the veteran undoubtedly very impressed by Scheffler’s current levels.
