Scottie Scheffler will be the red-hot favourite to win a third green jacket when the 2025 Masters starts at Augusta National Golf Club in April.

The American’s 2024 victory was his third win of the year and was arguably the highlight of Scheffler’s remarkable season.

The Masters is one of Scheffler’s favourite tournaments, and ever since his debut in 2020, the two-time champion appears to be well-suited to the test Augusta provides.

Scheffler‘s worst finish – tied for 19th – came during his first professional appearance at Augusta National. At the time, however, the American revealed that he was fortunate enough to have already played the lucrative course before he turned professional.

Scheffler was never one to mince his words during his formative days on Tour, and the American was straight to the point when asked whether it was his first time playing Augusta.

“I have played the golf course when I was in college. I haven’t played it yet this week,” Scheffler told reporters ahead of the 2020 event.

“I don’t know if I’m supposed to talk about it. We had an opportunity to come here and play, and we did, and it was awesome. I think I played this course five times.

“We actually came here and played once. We flew out from Austin in the morning and came back at night, so that was quite a weird experience, sleeping in the same bed and playing out here in one day. That was pretty cool.”

Scottie Scheffler’s Masters record

With a low finish on T19, Scheffler’s record at The Masters pretty remarkable. Even sandwiched in between his two victories is a T10 finish in 2023, the year Jon Rahm won his second major title.

In fact, it’s two years since Scheffler last missed a cut at a major championship, which came during the 2022 PGA Championship at Southern Hills Country Club. Before that, the American last missed a cut at the 2019 US Open.

Of his past 19 major championship appearances, Scheffler has finished in the top ten twelve times, which is 63 per cent of the time.

As 2025 approaches and with the world number one in ominous form, Schefler will no doubt be looking at Augusta as his best chance of adding major number three to his already glittering record book.
