Another edition of the Ryder Cup has now concluded, with Europe stunning the United States on away soil.
Luke Donald guided Europe to back-to-back Ryder Cup success over the US in dramatic fashion, with the visitors winning 15-13 at Bethpage Black.
And he opted for experience to do exactly that, with Donald making just one change from the team that won the 2023 Ryder Cup in Rome.
United States captain Keegan Bradley adopted a different approach, with his side including four rookie players.
Russell Henley impressed for the US on his Ryder Cup debut, while his fellow rookie Cameron Young drew praise from Justin Thomas in New York.

He is the oldest golfer to ever play at a Ryder Cup
In fact, their fellow debutants Ben Griffin and J.J. Spaun impressed for the US as well, while world number one Scottie Scheffler struggled at the Ryder Cup.
He boasts huge experience despite not being the oldest player on the team aged just 29, a title that won’t be going his way anytime soon.
Indeed, Scheffler’s compatriot Raymond Floyd represents the oldest player to ever compete at a Ryder Cup.
The American was 51 years and 20 days old when he lined out for the US at the 1993 Ryder Cup at The Belfry, having been a captain’s pick from Tom Watson.

And he proved age is just a number back then, with Floyd helping the visitors to a 15-13 victory away from home.
He clinched three birdie putts on the back nine on the final day to help complete a fine comeback from the visitors, with Floyd winning his singles clash against Ryder Cup legend Jose Maria Olazabal.
It remains the last away victory for the US in the competition, with Europe having just claimed their fifth such win at Bethpage Black.
What was Raymond Floyd’s record on the PGA Tour?
Floyd’s superb feats were certainly not limited to the Ryder Cup, with four major championship wins on his glittering honours list.
The American claimed 22 victories on the PGA Tour in total, having made a huge 726 starts upon joining in 1963.
| Year | Tournament | Winning score | Margin | Runner(s)-up |
| 1969 | PGA Championship | −8 (69-66-67-74=276) | 1 stroke | Gary Player |
| 1976 | The Masters | −17 (65-66-70-70=271) | 8 strokes | Ben Crenshaw |
| 1982 | PGA Championship | −8 (63-69-68-72=272) | 3 strokes | Lanny Wadkins |
| 1986 | US Open | −1 (75-68-70-66=279) | 2 strokes | Chip Beck, Lanny Wadkins |
His PGA Tour and major championship figures are, of course, inferior to others, but he remains the oldest Ryder Cup player ever.
And that is a record that may never be beaten, although nothing can be ruled out given the chaotic nature of the prestigious tournament.
