Cognizant Classic predictions

The Golfing Gazette writers have their say on who will win the Cognizant Classic on Sunday:

Peter Lynch: Rory McIlroy already has a win on the PGA Tour this season, and now I’m backing his good friend Shane Lowry to get his first. The Irishman pushed McIlroy all the way at Pebble Beach, but I think he’s capable of getting the win this time around to really kickstart his 2025.

Jordan Harris: On a golf course where accuracy is so important both off the tee and when hitting shots into the green, Shane Lowry is one of the standout names. He threatened to win at Pebble Beach and has not finished outside the top five at this event since 2021.

Sam Stone: Shane Lowry for me this week, the Irishman impressed at Pebble Beach and is definitely due a win. Lowry’s last victory came alongside Rory McIlroy at the 2024 Zurich Classic, and there have been enough positive signs (strokes gained-wise) to suggest he will soon end his wait for PGA Tour win number four.

James Shearman: Russell Henley’s profile does not match his golfing ability. The four-time PGA Tour winner is rarely spoken about among the best players in the world and yet he’s 17th in the world rankings. With top 10s at the Sony Open and Pebble Beach, he also has the form to achieve victory number five this week.
