Scottie Scheffler is undoubtedly the player to beat on the PGA Tour right now, having won six times this season.
It’s more than any other player, with Scheffler boasting twice as many wins as his nearest competitor Rory McIlroy.
The world number one took his PGA Tour wins tally to 19 this season, in which he won the PGA Championship and The Open Championship.
He has enjoyed a rapid rise on the PGA Tour, with Scheffler only claiming his maiden victory in the 2022 season.
That success arrived at the WM Phoenix Open, where the American edged out his compatriot Patrick Cantlay in a playoff.

Why Scottie Scheffler got ‘so frustrated’ during his first ever PGA Tour win
Scheffler and Cantlay both finished on 16-under at the TPC Scottsdale Stadium Course before the former battled to a hard-fought win.
Sharing his verdict on the immediate aftermath, he replied: “Yeah, initial thoughts, I don’t really have too much.
“I’m just very pleased how today played out. I kept telling myself there would be some bumps in the road, and I definitely gave myself a few of those with the bogeys, but I hung in there tough and had a nice finish to the round to get in a playoff, and from there just tried to hang in there and execute some shots, and I’m very pleased to see that putt go in.
“At the time I thought it was just to keep the playoff going, and so I guess it was nice seeing Patrick’s putt not go in, and then able to celebrate a little bit.”

And when asked how it felt to finally break through on the PGA Tour, the winner responded: “You know, I don’t know…
“I played pretty poorly the first two days. As bad as I’ve scored with how good I’ve been playing, I’ve been playing great and I was getting so frustrated because I was scoring so poorly.”

How Scottie Scheffler felt about beating Patrick Cantlay at the 2022 WM Phoenix Open
Scheffler not only battled past Cantlay at the WM Phoenix Open, but also a handful of high-profile names.
Xander Schauffele, Brooks Koepka, Justin Thomas, Jon Rahm and his future Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley were all in the field.
There was, of course, also the presence of the boisterous fans who have made the tournament so iconic over the years.

But Scheffler remained zoned in to set the tone for the wins that would follow, having also been asked how much the win would do for his motivation and confidence going forward.
He said: “Yeah, it’s great. Definitely nice to get my first win under the belt, and I think the first one is probably always the hardest, and I definitely made it pretty difficult on myself today, and going into the playoff and having to beat a player like Patrick is pretty tough. Just very pleased that I was able to do it.”
Three playoff holes were needed to separate the duo, although Scheffler successfully defended his title a year later with a two-shot win over Nick Taylor.
Before that, however, he finished his stunning 2022 season with wins at The Masters, the Arnold Palmer Invitational and the World Golf Championships-Dell Technologies Match Play.
