Jordan Spieth is still one of the biggest draws on the PGA Tour, despite his poor recent form, and he is undoubtedly someone who LIV Golf would love to poach.
Spieth is one of the most successful PGA Tour players over the past decade, with 13 wins including three major championships to his name.
The 32-year-old has gone very quiet over the past three years, though, and is winless since April 2022.
Spieth missed out on selection for the Ryder Cup this year, and that would have been a real wake-up call for him.
2026 will be a hugely important year for the Dallas native, as he looks to rediscover his best form.
He finished outside the top 50 on the FedEx Cup points list this season, and as a result, he will need to rely on sponsors’ exemptions to play in many of the Signature Events next year.
The nine Signature Events, an increase of one from the past two years, came about after the inception of LIV Golf in 2022.
And Spieth’s comments about the Saudi-backed outfit back in 2023 are now very interesting to read.
Jordan Spieth’s admission proves why PGA Tour players should be grateful for LIV Golf
When LIV burst onto the scene three years ago, it caused a huge divide in the game of professional golf.
In some ways, that divide is still very much present.

It has to be said though, the PGA Tour players would probably not be thriving like they currently are if LIV had never been formed in the first place.
Spieth spoke to reporters during the Arnold Palmer Invitational two years ago, when it was announced that the PGA Tour would be moving towards reduced field events with huge purses on offer.
He said: “I would be lying if I said that we would have gone through this without LIV,” said Spieth. “But at the same time, we haven’t mentioned them in any of our discussions on what we think’s best for the Tour.
“The Tour has been all ears. It’s been a player-friendly, player-organised situation. It’s been honestly pretty fun to be a part of. I hope that we can kick it off the right way and don’t have to make too many adjustments to it because the main thing now is trying to get it as close to right the first time as possible.“
Spieth is spot on here. The purses available to PGA Tour players simply wouldn’t be as lucrative as they are right now without LIV.
Jon Rahm’s 2025 LIV prize money compared to Scottie Scheffler’s on the PGA Tour
Jon Rahm was the top-earner on LIV last season, while Scottie Scheffler won more money than anyone else on the PGA Tour.
How did their numbers compare, though?
Scheffler earned $27,659,550 on the PGA Tour in 2025, while Rahm collected $31,610,000.
Both players were clearly rewarded very handsomely indeed.
However, it’s clear that LIV Golf still award greater financial prizes than the PGA Tour, especially considering the fact that Rahm didn’t even win a tournament in 2025!
That said, if LIV was never formed, Scheffler and co wouldn’t be earning anything like they are right now.
And for that reason, all of the PGA Tour players owe those who came up with the idea for LIV Golf a huge thank you.
