The PGA Tour Player of the Year nominees have been announced, with Scottie Scheffler unsurprisingly making the cut.
Scheffler has been joined in the PGA Tour Player of the Year nominees by Rory McIlroy, Tommy Fleetwood and Ben Griffin.
While he enjoyed a fantastic season, claiming three wins, it’s fair to say that Griffin has been outshone by his other three rivals.
And again, having hugely impressed on the PGA Tour in 2025, Fleetwood has still fallen short of the efforts of Scheffler and McIlroy.

Why Rory McIlroy is the 2025 PGA Tour Player of the Year ahead of Scottie Scheffler
It looks certain to be a straight shootout between Scheffler and McIlroy for the award, and there is definitely an argument to be made for the Northern Irishman clinching the honor.
It was indeed the American who claimed more wins than any other player, with his six titles ahead of McIlroy and Griffin with three each.
His efforts included triumphs at the PGA Championship and The Open Championship, helping him reach four major wins.
Scheffler also posted the lowest scoring average on the PGA Tour in 2025, with a tour-best 17 top 10s and no missed cuts.
It was another simply stunning season from the 29-year-old, but his closest rival McIlroy also had a 2025 to remember.
Second in the PGA Tour scoring average ranks, the 36-year-old posted eight top 10s and missed just one cut.
Who do you think should win the 2025 PGA Tour Player of the Year award?
Crucially, however, McIlroy completed the career grand slam in 2025, finally ending his major drought by winning The Masters.
He’s just one of six players to achieve the feat, joining fellow icons Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods on the exclusive list.
Moreover, Tiger Woods believes The Players Championship is the fifth major, with McIlroy’s win at the event this season further helping his cause to be named Player of the Year.
He also emerged victorious at the iconic Pebble Beach, while his mental strength came to the fore with playoff victories at The Players and The Masters.
What did Rory McIlroy achieve in 2025 away from the PGA Tour?
With the award limited to the PGA Tour season, world number one Scheffler may be quietly confident of his chances of success.
But had the honor focused on the 2025 golfing season in general, there is no doubt that McIlroy deserves the award.

Along with his efforts on the PGA Tour, he claimed an unforgettable Irish Open win on home soil on the DP World Tour.
That helped McIlroy win the Race to Dubai title for the fourth successive season and a stunning seventh time overall.
Of course, there was also an unforgettable victory for Team Europe at the Ryder Cup, where McIlroy was a central figure.
Rory McIlroy completed the career Grand Slam with his 2025 Masters win
Appearing in his eighth consecutive Ryder Cup, he scored 3.5 points from his five matches as the visitors stunned the USA at Bethpage Black.
And en route to many of his wins, he produced countless moments of world-class golf over the months, providing golf fans everywhere with lasting memories.
