The U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills next month is one of the most eagerly anticipated major championships in a while, due to the fact that Scheffler has the chance to make history.
In truth, Scottie Scheffler has been nowhere near his best so far this season.
However, it’s worth noting that he still has one win, three runner-up finishes and six top-5s to his name on the PGA Tour in 2026.

Scheffler is ranked seventh in strokes gained approach at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson through three rounds so far this week, and he should be ranked back inside the top 20 for the season by the time the tournament finishes on Sunday.
That’s much more like it from the world number one. With approach play being so crucial at Shinnecock Hills, he may well fancy his chances of reigning supreme on Long Island.

He’s also ranked fourth in strokes gained scrambling.
