Scottie Scheffler is a legitimate superstar in the golfing world and there is a genuine chance that he could become even more dominant in 2026.

Scheffler has 19 PGA Tour wins to his name since February 2022, including four major championship titles.

The thing is, life at the top is relentless. If you’re standing still, you’re essentially going backwards.

So the 29-year-old’s hopes of achieving even more success moving forward will be all about making marginal gains here and there.

Scheffler appears to be perfectly equipped to continue his PGA Tour dominance over the next decade or so.

It has also emerged that Scheffler has added more ball speed ahead of the new season.

However, will he really be able to continue his dominance on into 2026?

Rory McIlroy, Tommy Fleetwood and Xander Schauffele are Scheffler’s closest challengers on the PGA Tour.

Meanwhile, LIV Golf stars Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm will be hopeful of pushing the world number one all the way in the majors in 2026.

However, they could all be left very disappointed indeed…

Latest Scottie Scheffler decision could be terrible for his rivals

If there is one criticism of Scheffler’s 2025 season, it is that he was fairly slow out of the blocks, by his standards at least.

If he is to reach a whole new level entirely and get close to matching Tiger Woods’ 2000 season, when the 15-time major champion won nine times, he needs to get at least one win under his belt earlier than March.

That’s why Scheffler’s decision to play in The American Express in La Quinta, California in two weeks’ time could be a stroke of genius.

The current world number one was forced to miss out on The Sentry in 2025 due to injury and he didn’t make his first start of the season until the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

His game was quite clearly very rusty indeed, and despite two top-10 finishes in his first five events, he simply was not anywhere near his best.

Could we see a new and improved Scottie Scheffler in 2026?

Teeing it up at La Quinta this year will give Scheffler a chance to hone his game ahead of the really big events which begin in February and run on into March and April.

Scheffler has been incredibly dominant over the past two years.

And if he starts quickly in 2026, his main rivals like McIlroy, Fleetwood and Schauffele may well be wondering how they will be able to beat him.

The 29-year-old from Dallas, Texas, will fancy his chances of winning the Masters this year, as well as other major championships, of course.

And the fact that Scheffler has added The American Express to his PGA Tour schedule should increase his chances of doing just that.
