Jordan Spieth’s problems over the past few years have been well-documented.

Spieth has not won on the PGA Tour since his victory at the RBC Heritage in 2022 and he is an absolute shadow of the player who won three major championships in a three-year stretch a decade ago.

The 32-year-old American has endured terrible struggles with his golf swing over the past few years.

However, Spieth’s poor putting on the PGA Tour is the main source of his issues and ultimately the reason why he hasn’t won in so long.

What do you think is the real reason why Jordan Spieth has not won on the PGA Tour since 2022?

The three-time major winner’s confidence is quite clearly on the floor right now, and the increased competition on the PGA Tour will make it very hard for him to get back inside the winner’s circle.

Spieth still believes he can return to world number one again at some point in the future, but that seems highly unlikely at the moment.

While Spieth has plenty of problems with his swing and his putting stroke right now, the real reason why he’s struggling may well have started a decade ago.

Jordan Spieth is still suffering from what happened in 2015 right now

Spieth was the world number one on multiple occasions from 2015 to 2016.

The man from Dallas, Texas, had the golfing world at his feet at the time and it felt like anything was possible for him.

However, his stark regression since has been difficult to witness at times. Perhaps his success 10 years ago is the real reason why he is struggling so badly right now.

There is a genuine argument to be made that Spieth achieved too much success too soon in his career.

He became only the second player in history alongside Jack Nicklaus to win three different major championships before the age of 24 after securing his third major title at The Open Championship in 2017.

His early success may well have given him a false sense of security.

Golf is an incredibly difficult sport to master and Spieth just found it too easy from 2015 to 2017.

He’s now finding out the hard way just how hard it is to win tournaments at the very highest level and annoyingly for him, he is in his prime golfing years now.

Spieth seems to be chasing his swing from 2015. Replicating what he did then will be nigh on impossible. It’s time for Spieth to evolve and build a new swing.

There may be some short-term pain involved in that process but the potential long-term rewards on offer would make a swing rebuild well worth Spieth’s time and effort.

The burden of Spieth’s early success is weighing him down

The harder the 13-time PGA Tour winner works on his game, the further he continues to fall behind in the rankings.

Do you think Jordan Spieth will be deserving of invites into the signature events in 2026?

What Spieth achieved by winning The Masters, The US Open and The Open Championship in a three-year spell from 2015 is now proving to be a huge burden on the 32-year-old.

Everyone expects Spieth to reproduce the levels he showed 10 years ago but golf has evolved. Players like Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy and Tommy Fleetwood are so far ahead of the Dallas native right now.

It’s an incredibly long way back to the top for Spieth.

And the best thing he could do for his future is to lower his expectations. He should be approaching each and every tournament with the mindset that he has nothing to prove.

Spieth has to stop trying to rediscover his glory days and focus instead on building a new and improved swing and switching up his mindset.

Who knows, Spieth 2.0 may well be even better than the original version!

One thing’s for sure; things can’t get much worse for him if he stops trying to recreate the glory days.
