Rory McIlroy and Bryson DeChambeau have never quite seen eye-to-eye during their time in the professional game.
DeChambeau was hugely frustrated by McIlroy during the final round of The Masters in April, suggesting that the Northern Irishman did not say one thing to him on the golf course.
In fact, DeChambeau seemed stunned by McIlroy’s behavior on Sunday at The Masters.
“Didn’t talk to me once all day,” he said. “The atmosphere was electric. I loved it. But he was just like… just being focused, I guess. It’s not me, though.”
The 32-year-old American’s move to LIV Golf from the PGA Tour in 2022, and the 2025 Masters champion’s stance on the Saudi-backed circuit made for a frosty relationship between the two players.

DeChambeau has suggested that he and McIlroy aren’t close friends at all, but he did say their relationship is a cordial one.
McIlroy has even accused DeChambeau of attention-seeking by mentioning his name all of the time.
Bryson DeChambeau will be left bewildered after Rory McIlroy’s actions in Dubai
The LIV Golf star would have been left shaking his head after what the five-time major winner was doing during the final round of the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai on Sunday.
Who is the better player: Rory McIlroy or Scottie Scheffler?
After McIlroy won The Masters, he reacted to DeChambeau’s comments with sheer and utter bemusement.
“We’re trying to win The Masters,“ McIlroy said. “I’m not going to try to be his best mate out there.
“Look, everyone approaches the game different ways. I was focused on myself and what I needed to do.
“That’s really all that it was. It wasn’t anything against him – it’s just I felt that’s what I needed to do to try to get the best out of myself that day.“
However, the Northern Irishman’s actions in Dubai on Sunday will have left DeChambeau scratching his head.
McIlroy was in the last group at The Earth Course alongside talented Dane Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen.

Neergaard-Petersen performed admirably, firing a final round 68, one worse than McIlroy.
McIlroy was impressed by Neergaard-Petersen’s performance on day four in Dubai.
And the observant amongst us would have noticed just how at ease the five-time major winner was in general.
Rather than try and intimidate Neergaard-Petersen, McIlroy went out of his way to chat to the 26-year-old and did his best to make him feel comfortable.
If DeChambeau watched the final round, he must have been wondering what on earth was happening.
And if he didn’t see McIlroy’s carefree and relaxed approach to the final round in Dubai, someone close to him would surely have informed him.
Rory McIlroy’s desperation to win The Race To Dubai cannot be underestimated
The counter argument is that the final round of the DP World Tour Championship is not comparable to The Masters when it comes to the pressure involved.
It’s also worth noting that McIlroy and DeChambeau are big rivals and as mentioned earlier, they are certainly not friends.
So there were clear differences between the final round in Dubai and the clash between the two golfing giants at Augusta National seven months ago.
However, McIlroy’s desire to win the DP World Tour Championship every year is incredibly strong. He is desperate to overtake Colin Montgomerie’s record of eight order of merit titles in Europe.
So it would be remiss of anyone to think that McIlroy wasn’t under huge pressure on Sunday at the DP World Tour’s season-ending event.
It’s fairly obvious that McIlroy and DeChambeau are very different characters and it will be very interesting to see the atmosphere between the two players when they are next paired together.
