Bryson DeChambeau does have two major wins safely tucked away, but his approach to the very biggest tournaments recently leaves a lot to be desired.

DeChambeau completely changed the way golf is played back in 2020 when he put on 40 pounds in weight, increased his swing speed and became the longest hitter in golf.

The American took that approach during the US Open at Winged Foot six years ago, and he ran away with the tournament, winning by six strokes.

Where do you think Bryson DeChambeau will be playing in 2027?

His LIV contract is up this year…

The 32-year-old hit the ball as hard as he could off every tee and got as close to the greens as possible.

Nobody had ever taken that approach to a US Open Championship before, so DeChambeau was certainly a groundbreaker.

He then won another US Open title four years later at Pinehurst.

Bryson DeChambeau has to change his approach to the majors next season

DeChambeau’s poor display at the US Open last month epitomized his recent performances in the majors.

He has missed the cut at all three majors so far this season and nobody would be surprised if he suffered the same fate at The Open Championship next week.

As the old saying goes: ‘fail to prepare, then prepare to fail’.

DeChambeau’s preparation for The Open, if you want to even call it that, leaves a lot to be desired.

He has been filming content for his YouTube channel out in Canada while playing on a Parkland golf course.

Could there be any worse preparation for playing links golf than that?

If DeChambeau truly wants to add to his major collection, why didn’t he fly over to the United Kingdom two weeks before the start of the tournament?

Why wasn’t he putting in the hard yards at Royal Birkdale earlier than anyone else?

The question is: does Bryson DeChambeau genuinely want to remain competitive in the major championships?

Or is he more interested in the content creation side of his life?

Bryson DeChambeau has a tough decision to make

If he does want to go down that route, that’s obviously fine. The most important thing for him is that he is happy.

What do you think is the biggest issue within Bryson DeChambeau’s game?

He's missed the cut at both of the first two majors this year

However, it’s becoming painfully obvious that DeChambeau cannot put all of his focus into both playing competitively and creating content for his YouTube channel.

Either one of his pursuits will inevitably suffer, or even worse, both of them will.

He has some big decisions to make moving forward regarding his career, not least which tour he will actually be playing on next year.

However, perhaps the most important decision he has to make is what means more to him; competitive golf or content creation?

Because it’s very clear that he won’t be able to do both to the best of his ability.
