Tiger Woods has got the golfing world talking for all the right reasons this week as he makes his return to the tour as host of the Genesis Open.

Woods is up and running in round one of the tournament and at the time of writing, had made the turn at one under par.

With all the talk around LIV Golf and the money in the sport dominating a lot of headlines, it’s nice to simply see Tiger back in action and on the golf course.

Xander Schauffele aims friendly dig at ‘out of the loop’ Tiger Woods

As we know Woods is a well-respected member of the tour and among many, is considered the greatest to ever pick up a golf club.

With that, comes great respect and friendships off the course and speaking about Woods, PGA star Xander Schauffele has revealed he loves to rip the 15-time major winner when he gets the chance.

“We needle each other a lot. I don’t think he’s very good. I think he’s lost his touch a little bit. He’s a little older now and I think he’s a little out of the loop on sort of what’s cool for the younger guys. But I like to needle him a bunch,” Schauffele said.

Of course, Schauffele says this tongue-in-cheek and there is no actual malice in his comments at all.

In fact, the entire clip shared by the PGA’s social media team is stories from players who suggest there’s a lot of ribbing going on nowadays between Woods and the rest of the players.

Woods will be hoping to have a bit more active 2024 compared to last year. The 48-year-old has admitted his ankle is actually pain free and it will be interesting to see if he tees it up more this year.

The Masters is definitely a tournament he’ll be involved in but whether he gets himself out before that as well, remains to be seen.
