Xander Schauffele has claimed the Travelers Championship has done something “awesome” for the caddies ahead of this week’s PGA Tour signature event.
Scottie Scheffler headlines a stacked field the week after the US Open as preparations now begin for The Open at Royal Troon in a month’s time.
Schauffele finished T7 at Pinehurst last week despite not playing his best golf in North Carolina.
Considering he was off the boil, finishing on one under through four rounds at Pinehurst No.2 should be viewed as a big positive.
Travelers Championship have done something unique for caddies this week

Speaking during his press conference on Wednesday, Schauffele spoke of how hospitable this week’s event has been in the past.
He explained: “I think the welcoming thing here is the hospitality and how nice everyone is treated and how comfy everything is here.”
Schauffele went to reveal that even his caddie had been given a courtesy car for the week.
He added: “Our caddies have courtesy cars this week; that’s the extent Travelers has gone to make everyone feel comfortable, and I think that’s an awesome thing.”
Xander Schauffele to capitalise on Scottie Scheffler’s out-of-sorts US Open performance
There’s an opportunity for Schauffele to turn his good recent form into another victory.
The American was impressive at Pinehurst and could look to take advantage of Scheffler’s out-of-sorts performance in North Carolina.
Scheffler couldn’t gain any rhythm last week and certainly has work to do if he’s to return to the winners’ circle this week quickly.
Furthermore, Rory McIlroy’s absence will also open up the Travelers Championship even more this week. The world number two is currently taking time out after suffering yet more major heartache toward the back end of the US Open on Sunday.
