Xander Schauffele has been working with Tiger Woods’ former coach, Chris Como, for just under a year.
Before teaming up with Como, Schauffele’s father, Stefan, was his primary mentor. Como has been working on getting Schauffele’s club more on plane and making his shoulders work in a steeper motion.
Como’s tweaks have worked wonders after Schauffele enjoyed a remarkable double-major winning season, which peaked during The Open Championship at Royal Troon.
Schauffele is now back in action at the ZOZO Championship, which is his first event since helping the USA win a tenth successive Presidents Cup.
Before Thursday’s opening round, Schauffele was asked about Como and what life has been like working under Woods’ former coach.
Xander Schauffele shares Chris Como update

Speaking during his press conference on Tuesday, Schauffele admitted it’s been scary putting faith in Como and trusting everything he’s looking to implement into his swing.
“He has been tremendous. I have known Chris for maybe 10 years now but have only been working with him for pushing probably just under a year now,” Schauffele said.
“I trust him a lot. I have put a lot of faith in what he is telling me, believing everything he is telling me and trusting everything he is telling me. It’s a scary thing.”
Schauffele continued: “I have had pretty much the same coach my entire life, and to get advice from someone new and put all of my tournament trust and feelings and everything that goes into competing at a high level into his corner was a really big deal for myself and my team.
“Chris is an awesome individual, and I am very happy he is part of my team.”
Chris Como players revealed after Xander Schauffele success
Along with Schauffele and Woods, Como has also recently worked with Bryson DeChambeau and was instrumental in the LIV Golf star’s 2020 US Open win at Winged Foot.
Ultimately, injuries halted the pair’s progression and DeChambeau and Como eventually parted ways after the two-time major winner decided to move to LIV Golf in 2022.
Como worked with Woods between 2014 and 2017 when the 15-time major winner was hampered by injury. Nevertheless, Como helped revamp Woods’ swing before his memorable Masters victory in 2019.
Another notable name on Como’s resume is Jason Day. The pair joined forces in 2020, and with a revamped swing, the Aussie claimed his first win in five years at the 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson.
