2024 PGA Championship winner Xander Schauffele has made a big admission about his game ahead of the Memorial Tournament and U.S. Open.

The American is in action for the first time since his maiden major victory at Valhalla and is part of a high-calibre field for the PGA Tour signature event.

Memorial kickstarts two huge weeks of golf with the year’s third major at Pinehurst No.2 getting underway on June 13.

Come Sunday, the golfing world will know a lot more about who to look out for heading into the U.S. Open.

Having not been seen since his triumph at Valhalla, it’s hard to know what to expect from Schauffele this week.

However, speaking to the Golf Channel, the American wasn’t afraid to admit he’s perhaps lacking a little bit of sharpness after spending time away from the course.

Schauffele explained: “Not as sharp as I would like, to be completely honest.

“I feel pretty good. Still plenty of time, it’s only Tuesday. I have tomorrow, and then we will be going on Thursday. We’ll get there.”

The Memorial is a warm-up for next week’s main event

The Memorial is the perfect chance for Schauffele to ready himself for the year’s third major championship.

For the best in the world, the year’s four majors are all that matters.

The American has the chance to play his way back into the rhythm that saw him dominate in Louisville last month.

Furthermore, there’s an opportunity for Schauffele to really send a message to the likes of Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy in the next 14 days. If he can compete once more, he will truly be considered one of the elite players in the game at the moment.

And golf fans all over the world can’t wait to see how it all plays out.
