Wyndham Clark teamed up with Keegan Bradley for the first day’s play of the Presidents Cup, and the 2023 US Open champion has shared how he truly feels about the Ryder Cup captain.

Bradley’s inclusion came under fire before the start of the Royal Montreal event. However, alongside Clark, Bradley repaid Jim Furyk’s faith by sealing a precious point for the United States.

It was the perfect start for the 12-man United States Team, and Clark is delighted that Bradley is part of the USA’s plans.

Clark was asked before the Presidents Cup about Bradley’s inclusion. “It’s been awesome. I played a couple of practice rounds with Keegan this week,” Clark said. “I haven’t spent much time around him. He’s older than me and kind of in different walks of life.

“He’s kind of — not that he’s — his career is done by any means, but he’s at the back end of his career, and I’m at the beginning of mine. It’s great to be around him. He even admitted five weeks ago, he was like, I was ready to come up here and be a captain, and it’s quickly changed.”

Clark continued: “The fun thing is he talked with us about the Ryder Cup, obviously next year. He says, ‘Hey, this is a starting block now. This week is huge for Team USA for next year’s Ryder Cup.’ He’s so positive and such a great leader. I’m really excited that he’s our captain and excited he’s on this team. He’s playing great golf and has had a lot of success in these events.”

Ryder Cup dress rehearsal for Keegan Bradley at the Presidents Cup

Bradley’s participation at Royal Montreal can only be a good thing ahead of the Ryder Cup, which will be underway at Bethpage Black next September.

The 38-year-old was a left-field choice by the US selectors and is under pressure to continue what is a formidable record on home soil.

Of course, Bradley is well aware of how golf’s team events work, but working closely with Furyk in Quebec and gaining an understanding of the role can only be a good thing ahead of the showdown against Luke Donald’s European side on Long Island.
