Wyndham Clark is finishing the PGA Tour season in impressive fashion and is currently tied for fourth at the Tour Championship.

Clark’s scorecard, as is usually the case, was up and down on Friday. The 2023 US Open champion made five birdies and an eagle but also dropped three shots.

The American appears to be enjoying East Lake’s revamped set-up. However, Clark admitted that one hole is far from perfect.

The FedEx Cup top 30 were tipped to grow frustrated at East Lake as the tournament progresses, and that’s precisely what has happened with Clark.

The American failed to keep his ball on the fairway on the par-five 18th, preventing him from picking up a much-needed birdie.

And Clark wasn’t impressed during his post-round press conference.

“Yeah, yeah. I’m bummed about 18. It’s unfortunate. It’s a poorly designed fairway that I hit the fairway, and it goes into a tough lie,” Clark explained.

“But even then, I had an eight-footer to make birdie. It would have been nice to finish with a birdie. All in all, 4-under on this golf course is always pretty good.”

Scottie Scheffler also questioned East Lake’s 18th at the Tour Championship

Before the Tour Championship, Scottie Scheffler claimed he was looking to use the 10th fairway when approaching the closing hole. That was before the PGA Tour confirmed that internal out-of-bounds would be in play.

Clearly, the 18th hasn’t had time to settle into its new look properly, given that the renovations in Atlanta have taken place quickly over the past 12 months.

Hopefully, over time, East Lake will return to its former pristine glory and be lauded by the FedEx Cup top 30 once more. Unfortunately, at the moment, there are some teething issues which need ironing out.
