It was a night to remember for Wyndham Clark as The Bay Golf Club clinched back-to-back victories in the TGL.

Clark, along with Shane Lowry and Ludvig Aberg, sealed a dramatic 6-5 win over Justin Thomas’ Atlanta Drive GC in the second match of the triple-header evening.

The Bay Golf Club would then beat Rory McIlroy’s Boston Common Golf 5-4 after Clark made a clutch eagle on the final hole. The closely fought contests came after the TGL increased the number of Hammers each team could use during a match.

Monday’s triple-header was undoubtedly the most entertaining night of action so far, and it’s fair to say Clark is loving competing in the tech-infused league.

TGL producers want players to be light-hearted, and Clark believes the relaxed feel of the league benefits his game.

“I wish I had this much fun on the golf course. Lately, I’ve not been having very much fun on the course,” Clark said.

“And so when I come in here, I don’t know what it is. I think it’s a little bit of the team aspect, the atmosphere. I think it’s kind of the lightheartedness, and I feel like I can just be myself and have fun and maybe say some things you wouldn’t normally say on a golf course.

“Yeah, I don’t know. I typically play well when I’m having fun, and I’m loose, and I think that happens a lot in TGL.”

The 2023 US Open champ added: “I would love if I could bring that to the real course. I don’t know; I just really love this atmosphere. Something about it, I just feel really loose.”

Who has won the most points in the TGL so far?

Only Justin Rose has more points than Clark so far in the TGL. The Englishman has 18 points from 32 holes played. Clark has 17 from 33, and Collin Morikawa has 15 from 20 holes played. Clark’s Bay Golf Club teammate Aberg also has 15 points from 30 holes.

At the other end of the table, Cameron Young is yet to score a point, and world number two Xander Schauffele has just one point won from his 11 holes played. Tiger Woods, who has played all of Jupiter Links GC’s matches, has two points from 22 holes.

When it comes to singles, Clark, Thomas and US Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley are tied at the top with four points each.

Ludvig Aberg lauds TGL after back-to-back wins

It wasn’t just Clark who was full of praise for the tech-infused league on Monday evening. Aberg, fresh off winning the Genesis Invitational at Torrey Pines, claimed the pressure he felt at the SoFi Centre was similar to what he feels on the PGA Tour.

“Honestly, very similar. We talked about it before. You have the same emotions kind of running through your mind.” the Swede said.

“And like Shane said, we’re all competitors, and six of the best players in the world are on the green, and you don’t really want to mess up, especially not with your teammates being around you who are playing good golf. So it was cool to be able to pull that off and definitely something that I’ll remember for quite some time.”
