One of the top-ranked players in the world will be absent from the Travelers Championship this week, after an injury he sustained at the US Open.
The US Open last week at Oakmont took its toll on numerous players, with one player in particular coming off worse for wear.
The USGA have actually received criticism from some quarters due to the setup at Oakmont.
Whilst it’s fine for the rough to be around six inches long at a US Open, there surely wasn’t any need to have the bunker faces covered with and surrounded by such thick grass.

There were times when the challenge seemed slightly unfair.
And one PGA Tour star actually suffered an injury due to the denseness of the rough.
Corey Conners withdraws from Travelers Championship after US Open injury
Unfortunately, Conners will not be at TPC River Highlands this week.
Conners suffered a wrist injury at the US Open on day three, after hitting his ball out of the deep rough.
The 33-year-old completed the full 18 holes but withdrew before the final round began.
Conners, the world number 24, has enjoyed a solid 2025 season so far, with five top-10s and only one missed cut in 16 events played.

However, he will now be fully focused on healing his wrist ahead of the vitally important last two months of the season.
Conners will be cursing his luck because the wrist injury he sustained at Oakmont really couldn’t have come at a worse time.
Conners’ replacement announced for Travelers Championship
Jhonattan Vegas will replace the Canadian at TPC River Highlands this week.
Vegas has two top-10s to his name in 15 starts this season.
However, he has missed six cuts, so he will be hoping to take advantage of his late entry into the Travelers.
You know what they say, one man’s loss is another man’s gain.
And that certainly rings true when it comes to how Conners and Vegas will be feeling right now.
