Will Zalatoris has shared what about Sedgefield Country Club is definitely similar to Pinehurst ahead of the Wyndham Championship this week.
Will Zalatoris is one of the many big names in the field for the Wyndham Championship in the coming days, with plenty of players looking to boost their positions in the FedEx Cup standings with the play-offs looming.
Zalatoris is currently inside the top 50, which will ensure that he is in the field for the signature events next year. But he is definitely looking for an upturn in form, having missed the cut in three of his last five events, while he also withdrew from the Rocket Mortgage Classic.
Will Zalatoris compares Sedgefield with Pinehurst
Unfortunately for the 27-year-old, it appears that his task is not going to get any easier in North Carolina. Zalatoris was asked in his press conference ahead of this week about whether he felt that Sedgefield is similar to Pinehurst, and he suggested that there are definitely parallels.

“Greens-wise yes. I would say old Pinehurst, for sure, but since they took out the trees and put in the native areas, that was a huge change for them, going back to when Pinehurst first opened. But now the greens for sure, and I would say probably 1990s Pinehurst, it would be exceptionally similar,” he said.
Tough act to follow after US Open
Certainly, golf fans will be delighted if the Wyndham Championship has anything like the drama of the US Open, which was held at Pinehurst No. 2 back in June. Of course, on that occasion, Bryson DeChambeau edged Rory McIlroy in one of the most enthralling days of major championship golf of all-time.
Pinehurst proved to be an amazing test, with the world’s best having to be so precise – one month after Xander Schauffele broke the major record for the lowest score to par at the PGA Championship.
Unfortunately, it was a not positive week for Zalatoris, as he missed the cut after rounds of 75 and 73. But he will be hoping that this trip to North Carolina proves to be much more successful as he looks to get some momentum ahead of the play-offs.
