The Ryder Cup is now less than a week away and while there are 24 big stars on display at Bethpage Black, it is the pairing of Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau who could feel the most heat.
Both Rahm and DeChambeau are part of proceedings in New York and after they both had good seasons on LIV, they’ll be expected to perform.
As we know, DeChambeau qualified automatically after his win at the US Open in 2024 then good form in the majors in 2025 got him enough ranking points.
For Rahm, he relied on a pick from Luke Donald after slipping down to 24th in the rankings.
Of course, Tyrrell Hatton is also there representing LIV but when it comes to eyeballs and pressure being on, it’s Rahm and DeChambeau who need to step up.

Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm can protect LIV Golf with Ryder Cup wins
With DeChambeau and Rahm among the highest paid players on LIV Golf, it’s only natural that a lot of fans will be looking at them to do the business this week.
However, while there’ll be fan expectation, there is also an added pressure on the pair that isn’t being spoken about.
That is the fact that for LIV Golf, how DeChambeau and Rahm perform could completely change the optics of their tour.
Over the years, we’ve heard countless digs and complaints from analysts and beyond on how LIV’s three-round format doesn’t prepare their players for the biggest tournaments.
Of course, things don’t get much bigger than the Ryder Cup.
If, by some miracle, both Rahm and DeChambeau perform poorly and don’t contribute to the team’s scoring in a positive way, then the daggers will be back out from those who criticise LIV.
Should the duo come up short, then it instantly plays in the narrative that LIV isn’t good for players when it comes to the biggest tournaments.
For Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau, then, there’s added pressure on their shoulders. If they do fail to perform, then you can bet your bottom dollar that those who love to take pot shots, will be straight back on it.
Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm’s Ryder Cup records
Both DeChambeau and Rahm will be desperate to do well at Bethpage and given they both have fiery and passionate personalities, we could see fireworks.
In terms of their own Ryder Cup records, they paint a different story on each side.
DeChambeau will now play in his third event and he’ll be hoping to build on the 2.5 points he has won so far.
| Ryder Cup | Points won | Overall record |
| 2018 | 0 | 0-3-0 |
| 2021 | 2.5 | 2-0-1 |
| Total | 2.5 | 2-3-1 |
As for Jon Rahm, he is very much a talisman for Europe and heading into what is now his fourth Ryder Cup, he’s won 7.5 points for his team, losing just three times so far, while he also has a perfect 4-0 record in the foursomes.
Still, both players are more than capable. And if they do play to their best, then it could well swing it in either Europe’s or the USA’s favour.
