Tiger Woods will have a huge say regarding what happens next with Brooks Koepka.

Brooks Koepka has applied to be reinstated as a PGA Tour member and there are plenty of arguments both for and against his case.

Koepka left the PGA Tour in order to join LIV Golf way back in June 2022.

However, Koepka’s time with LIV then ended in December 2025, after he and the Saudi-backed outfit mutually decided to part ways.

Ever since Brooks Koepka left LIV Golf, his future in the professional game has been very much up in the air.

There are those who believe he should be handed a direct route back to the PGA Tour while some golf fans think that he made his bed, now he should be made to lie in it.

Fan opinion will count for little, though. What will matter to Koepka is how the Player Policy Board and the Future Competition Committee view his situation.

Koepka is in no-man’s land right now, so to speak.

He isn’t an official member of any tour worldwide, and he is only guaranteed to play in the four major championships in 2026.

The 35-year-old would obviously love to play on the PGA Tour in 2026 but will that be at all possible?

According to ESPN, “the Tour will start its reinstatement and disciplinary process, which will include thoughtful input from the board, including player directors.“

That’s where Tiger Woods comes into the equation.

Not only is the 50-year-old on the Policy Board as a Player Director but he is also on the Future Competition Committee.

So it’s fair to say that Koepka’s PGA Tour future could well depend heavily on how Woods feels about the entire situation.

What way will Tiger Woods swing on the Brooks Koepka debate?

As we all know, the 15-time major champion holds huge sway on the PGA Tour.

He is a traditionalist by nature and strongly objected against every player who joined LIV Golf from the PGA Tour.

That said, Woods and Koepka are close friends.

The smart money in the scenario would be on an amicable outcome for all parties involved.

We should expect Koepka’s return to the PGA Tour to be difficult, but not impossible.

The bottom line is that the American is a huge star in the game.

His return to the PGA Tour would undoubtedly add some real excitement to proceedings. However, it would also send out a dangerous message, if his return is facilitated consequence-free.
