The Tour Championship is just days away as the PGA Tour’s finest get set to tackle a new-looked East Lake Golf Club.
The FedEx Cup top 30 was decided after last week’s BMW Championship as Keegan Bradley claimed a memorable victory at Castle Pines.
East Lake will look very different from 12 months ago after the famous Atlanta venue underwent extensive renovations. Xander Schauffele is disappointed with the changes after boasting an impressive record on the course’s previous layout.
Now, golf commentator Smylie Kaufman is the latest to discuss the alterations at the Tour Championship venue.
Smylie Kaufman shares latest on East Lake’s brand-new greens

TifEagle Bermuda grass has been introduced on the greens, with several putting surfaces also redesigned.
Typically, new greens provide a firmer bounce, but Kaufman has insisted the new grass is the “highlight” of the course.
“Oh no, they’re good [the greens]. The grass is the best part of the golf course talking to a couple of players who just came off,” he told the Smylie Show.
“They said they weren’t crazy firm and that the grass is the highlight of the property.”

With East Lake set to be significantly changed this week, it feels like the form book should go somewhat out the window.
Schauffele, for example, has thrived in Atlanta previously and would typically be the man the beat. However, it’s hard to predict how the two-time major winner will perform in new surroundings.
Right now, given Scheffler’s indifferent form in the first two FedEx Cup playoff events, anyone inside the top 15 stands a good shot at landing golf’s most lucrative prize.
The world number one will be completely aware that he must improve on his recent performances if he’s to finally get his hands on the end-of-season silverware.
