Ryder Cup rookie Ben Griffin is expected to bring a real breath of fresh air to proceedings at Bethpage Black later this month.

Keegan Bradley clearly has full faith in Griffin‘s ability, having picked him for his US Ryder Cup team to take on the Europeans at Bethpage.

Bradley was praised for selecting Griffin for the Ryder Cup team, and the two-time PGA Tour winner was more than deserving of his pick.

Nothing seems to faze the man from Chapel Hill, North Carolina. That said, the atmosphere at Bethpage will be unlike anything he has ever experienced before.

The New York crowd will create a hostile environment for the visiting European team while offering support for the American players which most of them would otherwise never have received while playing golf before.

Griffin is taking his responsibility of representing the United States of America very seriously, and he has opened up on what he has been told about potentially arriving at Bethpage earlier than the rest of his teammates.

Griffin has not yet played Bethpage Black, unlike the rest of the US Ryder Cup team.

So could that be a problem for him in two weeks’ time when the showdown with Europe gets underway?

Griffin spoke to reporters after his second round 66 at the Procore Championship on Friday, and responded when asked how much he’s looking forward to getting started at Bethpage.

He said: Like I was telling Keegan, I haven’t played Bethpage before. I was kind of asking him and the captains, should I go up there early and see the course? They were like, you know what, I think you’ll be able to figure it out kind of that week of. It’s golf, just go out there and put good swings on it.

Griffin certainly doesn’t lack confidence and he certainly has the type of attitude needed to thrive in a Ryder Cup atmosphere.

Griffin deserves huge credit. He certainly is no shrinking violet, is he?

The 29-year-old has proven once again this week in Napa just how good he is, and he leads the Procore Championship by three heading into the weekend.

Bradley will be extremely encouraged by Griffin’s stats from the first two rounds at the Silverado Resort.

Griffin is really dialled in with his irons right now and he is putting exceptionally well, as per usual.

If he manages to touch up his driving slightly over the weekend, and maintains his form with his iron play and his putting, he will win the Procore Championship at a canter.
