Scottie Scheffler might be the current world number one and undoubtedly the best player in golf but in terms of being as good as Tiger Woods, well, that’s a whole different debate.
Woods is the hold of a number of records in golf which are unlikely to ever be broken.
Alongside Sam Snead, Woods has 82 wins as a professional while his time spent as world number one in his prime is unlikely to ever be topped.

Scheffler, meanwhile, is doing well in his own right and has been top of the pile since March 2022.
Still, while Scheffler is an outstanding golfer, fellow PGA Tour star Justin Thomas has said there’s a long way to go before we start making comparisons.

Why Scottie Scheffler cannot be compared to Tiger Woods just yet
Speaking back in 2022 as Scheffler was about to win his first Masters tournament, Thomas was asked about the comparisons to Tiger Woods and whether that’s something people should discuss.
However, for Thomas, there’s little point in the discussion and as it stands, Woods is out on his own.
“I just don’t think it matters,” Thomas said. “I think all of us just need to appreciate greatness, and you need to appreciate the unbelievable golf Scottie is playing. It’s not deserving to — same with Collin. I wasn’t in that — really close to in the comparison type of thing, but there’s no need to be compared because what they’re doing is unbelievable, and it’s really, really special.
“There’s no reason to bat on it or make it feel any less than it is because you’re comparing it to the greatest person to ever play the sport.
“Yeah, if in ten years Scottie has all of a sudden won 50 times, then, yeah, we can compare it, but this is only going to be his fourth win and Tiger has won 80-something, so just let him enjoy it because it’s deserved.”
Scottie Scheffler has question marks for the first time after his performance at The Genesis
Nobody can really question just how good Scottie Scheffler is but after his mini collapse in the third round at this week’s Genesis Invitational, there might be some question marks for the first time.
Yes, Scheffler is coming back from injury. But we are so used to seeing him dominate that to see him go into round three just a shot off the lead and then end up five back was quite startling.
Scheffler worryingly bogeyed the par fives for the first time since 2019 and there were small signs of chinks in his armour.
Both Scheffler and fellow big gun, Rory McIlroy, seemed to struggle and for the first time, golf fans will be wondering if Scheffler can maintain his level.
Of course, given the last two years, there’s reason to believe he can indeed continue. But in terms of Tiger Woods comparisons, Scheffler has many more years of winning and producing consistent performances before he can even be in the conversation.
Right now, he’ll simply be looking to get back in contention at Torrey Pines and hope the likes of Patrick Rodgers and Davis Thompson slip away.
