The 2024 Presidents Cup saw Jim Furyk mastermind a dominant United States victory at Royal Montreal Golf Club.

Furyk’s meticulous preparation has been praised; many US players were aware of the pairings long before the first ball was hit in Quebec.

The 54-year-old learned from his 2018 Ryder Cup mistakes and has set an example for Keegan Bradley ahead of the 2025 Ryder Cup.

Wyndham Clark, who ended the Presidents Cup with a negative record, is the latest name to heap praise on Furyk’s preparation.

Clark, speaking on the latest episode of the No Laying Up Podcast, revealed that Furyk informed him of his partners well in advance of the event starting.

“I think the transparency was awesome on Jim’s part. He told me about two weeks in advance,” Clark said. “It was maybe a week talking with the stats guys, then every player, so then a week after the Tour Championship, he goes, ‘Wyndham, I am thinking of putting you alternate shot with Tony, what do you think?’. I said, ‘Awesome’.

“We both got each other’s golf ball and practiced for a couple of weeks. A few days after that, he goes, we are thinking of putting you with Keegan for best ball. I knew way ahead of time. Keegan and I started to text each other, and the same with Tony.”

Clark also revealed that Furyk sat pairings together during USA Team dinners.

“Within the team, we were also a team, which was really cool,” Clark added. “Jim did little things which I thought were smart. We had team dinners, and I always sat with Tony and Keegan, so we had our own little pod of us being together, which made it really cool.”

Keegan Bradley must learn from Jim Furyk’s Presidents Cup win

Of course, the United States boast a dominant Presidents Cup record, but Furyk’s leadership deserves immense credit.

After Friday’s disastrous session, the USA captain stuck to his plan and was instrumental in his side regaining control in Montreal.

For Bradley, who was also part of the 12-man United States Team, working under Furyk would’ve been invaluable as he prepares for next September’s Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black.

Luke Donald’s Europe are a cohesive group and will take some beating on Long Island in just under 12 months.
