Bryson DeChambeau is tied for the lead after the opening round of LIV Golf Adelaide.
DeChambeau and Marc Leishman both shot opening rounds of six-under-par 66 to lead by one from Dustin Johnson and Anthony Kim at LIV Golf Adelaide.
Before the start of the new season, LIV Golf star DeChambeau claimed he added 20 yards of distance to his driving.
Should Bryson DeChambeau leave LIV Golf in 2026?
The 32-year-old would have been fairly disappointed with his performances on LIV last season, having won only once.
So he would have been delighted with his first round 66 at The Grange Golf Club on Thursday.
However, he was far from perfect during his first round in Adelaide.
What Bryson DeChambeau’s caddie told him during day one at LIV Adelaide
DeChambeau’s main goal this season is to win at least one major championship.
However, he will be desperate to rack up a few victories on LIV Golf as well.
After day one in Australia on Thursday, DeChambeau admitted that he wasn’t quite at his best.
“Yeah, it was a tough battle out there,“ DeChambeau admitted.

“First three holes, played really solid. Almost made a putt on one; good par on two; three, good par, made a six-footer; four, got a little unfortunate.
“Felt like things weren’t going my way, and I kept talking to my caddie G-Bo and I’m like, ‘I don’t know how over these past couple weeks, I’m hitting it really well but just not scoring’.
“He’s just like, ‘stay patient‘. You’ve got to stay patient with this game.
“That’s what I did today. I kept staying patient. I knew the back nine was gettable if I just hit some good wedges.
What do you make of Brandel Chamblee’s comments on The Players Championship?
Chamblee raised some eyebrows with his comments on The Players…
“Fortunately I was able to do that, and didn’t capitalize on a couple areas, but 6-under out here with these conditions, I’ll take that any day.“
Bryson DeChambeau winning in Adelaide will be so important for him
DeChambeau will be hoping that he improves throughout the week and gets sharper with his irons.
He will be keen to hole a few more putts as well.
DeChambeau’s game seems to be in good shape at the start of the 2026 season, and if he were to win in Adelaide, he’d be set up perfectly for the rest of the year.
The 32-year-old is one of professional golf’s superstars.
However, there’s still plenty of room for improvement, and the next three days in Australia will tell us a lot about where DeChambeau is at with his game right now.
